I was a little caught up in DC training at the time so did not manage to enter that ride, regret it now :/

Not too worry, I'm sure we can get a couple guys together for a recce ride or two closer to the race.

Looking forward to this one and I like the slight change. I always hated the short N7 section.

Climbing up Adderley and Malanshoogte you might just miss that short N7 section!

A bit sad that its shorter but the masochist in me is glad they kept the Vissershok monster! But now its really a 99er and not a 108er called a 99er ^_^

The gravel section is going to be interesting though, not sure I'm looking forward to riding that in a group

Do it Roubaix style, on the front or first 5 wheels. Keeps you out of trouble. ;)

Yes, I also like the idea of a 99km 99er, I suppose it's an "orderly mind" thing. ;)

Anyone got some good climbing drills?

Malanshoogte Climb x 5

Ascent at 75% effort. Time yourself.

Repeat or lower time with each new ascent.

(You'll sleep well that evening...)

Road bike on gravel road.

Eina!

Anyone got some tips for a novice on what can go wrong with a road bike on the gravel, apart from punctures or overzealous braking/traction loss?
