I see entries are open. They are asking R3,200 for a team of two and up to R3,800 for a team of 4. 450 teams allowed. So they entry fees should amount to between R1,5m - R1,7m.

What is included with the entry fee? It seems only the race and water points. The route is not marked and you need your own support vehicle.

Is this the going rate for a race of this nature. It will work you out around R7 per kilometre.

Any comments from the guys who have done it last year?

Well, who carried the loss when this event began?

It has grown in numbers so it must be through good planning :)

Then you must have passed our team just before the end , we were waiting for a friend whose stomach went haywire. We waited where one cross the railway line for the lat time!! There was quite a big group of you ?

Not sure how many riders we ere eventually. 6 or 7 as i heard other voices behind me. Think there were a couple of groups stopped on the single track. One bunch of two riders and one of three. Clipped someones handlebars as i went past. Too tired to keep balance and wide handlebars too. Sorreeee if if was you.

There were some sore and grumpy people as well on that section (apart from my partner). One lady had an emotional outburst at her mate who stopped just before i passed you.

Jip, a race that tests the emotions. Not for sissies.

Did it for the first time last year, just after I started cycling in 16h42m and came in just before 03:00 in the morning, this year it felt even more difficult for me but we did it in 13h33m and came in 23:30, knocking 3h30m from our previous time, super happy with the results. My partner this year was also a lot stronger then my previous partner. Previous Partner struggled this year and pulled the plug at 175km's

Awesome race and one of those events that's on the list each year.

Finished at 3-17. Lights where out :( last sigle trek wasn't fun In the dark!

You must have been just behind me as well. Glad my lights lasted. Was behind some guys with virtually no lights. They let me past. Dont know why, they should have stayed in the light...... Well i would have anyway if i was in their position....

The WILD wife with a Momsen that does 60 kph downhill in the dark (without lights tooo!!!)

Haha. there was someone else that was emotional. not you, would have noticed you guys, and helped with the lights if you had chirped me again.........

I did not even notice that i passed you. The pard mentioned that we passed you and you came in just behind us.

Note to self: be nicer to people who look like they need lights....

Apparently there was a nasty split that ended up in an additional 20km's and some uber climbing. Bro in law was lying first in mixed and only came in 3rd because of this bad turn.

Came in just after 6:00 this morning with lights failing towards the end. Awesome ride though. Only disappointment and disgust is the pig cyclist leaving their wrappers and trash anywhere and everywhere.

Finished at 6 on the hour together with another single rider that I met on Bergplaas. Became good friends quickly :) Weird to hear the 'hane kraai' in the morning while still riding. What played with my mind was the Jaybay lights that I had seen from #7 was gone after 5am. So you felt like 30km away from a town. To see the mall when entering the roundabout was a pleasant surprise. :) well done to the quicker people. Respect...

Well done to everyone who finished!!!

Was quite tough with the headwind for the first stretch.

This was my 5th and it was definately the worst condition the road has been in. More corrugations and loose patches as well as ruts and rocks than I can remember which resulted in more crashes / lost bottles as well. Sometimes felt that you could not get into a proper rhythm.

Was still a great ride though. We came in at about 01.15 or so.
