I'm guessing he's also at an age where the majority of marathon riders are peaking. any decent reason for this, or has platt(et al) just got better?

Essentially he has to limit his training to prevent blood clots forming that can be life threatening. Love the Euro pro rider culture. In SA the guy would have been working for Supersport by now...
