Hi everyone...

I bought a 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp HT (Carbon)....

I dont have an actual weight it was, however quoted about 10.8kg out the box.. assuming tool bag and water should add another KG to the total...

I feel like it was lighter when I bought it than it is now, I haven't made any changes other than convert to tubeless....

Can it get heavier??? I made sure the drain hole below the BB is open...

Other than the basics, carbon stem, carbon handlebars, carbon seat post, wheels... What else can I look at doing to make the bike lighter??

I dont have a large budget and would be over a number of months but would really like to make the bike lighter again, feeling very sluggish now... :( :(

Is it possible that the weight you feeling is the December holidays and it is in fact the rider not the bike that has developed the weight problem :) just asking

hahaha not so much... Been on a strict eating plan and lost a couple of KG's already...

Physically the bike it feeling heavier...

So I have started "within" in terms of losing weight myself, however need to work on the "without" and make bike lighter a bit as well...

Get fitter. I'm done trying to save weight on my bike. I now aim to get myself lighter and fitter and to maximise power on every ride.

What tools do you carry in your tool bag?

Before you break out the Randela razor and start shaving grams off your ride, maybe put it on a scale and get an actual weight. to compare it to the "out the box weight". "It feels heavy" might just cost you a lot of unnecessary spend. (Unless of course this is a dick swinging exercise then go right ahead.)

Bikes don't accumulate weight unless your riding buddy is pouring lead shot down your seat tube or you are too lazy to wash it.

Agreed, many doping pro's have said that if they could choose losing an extra 1% or 2% in body fat or use EPO, they would go for weight loss. To drop 500g on a high spec bike you need to spend 20k, if you took a cr@p and a pee you would accomplish the same nett effect.

take it outdoors so the sunlight can fall on it.

Also, don't always think that the carbon parts are lighter, just because its carbon. Peddals, seat, hb, stem and seatpost is your best place to shave weight cheaply.

And admit it, you just want to be a weight weenie.
