WTF! This is getting ridiculous. Not content with trying to kill us by bad driving, we're now target practice for shooting too.

Serve these idiots right if they take on someone who has a gun and they both get shot dead.

I've always been anti gun ownership but all these attacks and stabbings on cyclists has really made me reconsider my position. I ride alone mostly due to strange times and not being a fan of club rides.

Could you guys please walk me through what I should be considering, also are there gun holsters that are comfortable enough to ride with? Would you be able to draw your gun quickly enough while riding? What's the lightest but still effective gun I could carry? Gun noob here.

Before you even consider carrying a firearm, you should consider self defense classes first.

PM me if you are interested in Krav Maga classes.

Ive decided from now its me my bike the sun and MR GLOCK, im finished with these absolute mad fools, seriously, read of this every day, and yes there is alot of cyclists out there that do stuff to upset motorists, but there are alot of good cyclist taking the wrap for BS, my son was almost taken out the smorning while training with me, cause a fool cut the corner to beat the robot, the driver then throws zaps and drives off, he can be so damn lucky Glock was locked away. (Sorry i hi jacked the post), but i have decided enough is enough POINT

Regarding legal issues,a case will be opened if you shoot someone pointing you with a airgun, but in all defenses, who here can see, while in motion, whether the perpetrator is pointing you with a toy gun,or a real pistol.....? Just some food for thought.

Presumably a similar case will also be opened against the persion with the airgun. It's then going to come down to who shot first, and whether it can be proved. So if you do shoot back, make sure you don't miss, and then find some witnesses

Edit - funnily enough, this is one of the few threads that have tempted me to look a GoPro as a way to make sure I get a license plate. Carry a gun? Not sure, although reading this makes me angry enough to consider it - probably not the right frame of mind to be armed tho!

Whether an act is self-defense or not is based on subjective criterium. Therefor the person acting in self-defense must FEEL that his life/property is being threatened or endangered. There have been cases where X killed Y, when Y was pointing a plastic toy gun at X. X was not found guilty of murder because it was self-defense. Sure you will be charged with murder, and the onus in court will be on you to prove that you felt your life was in danger. But IMO having a gun (even toy) pointed at you from some distance away. Proving self-defense will be relatively painless(under circumstances) if you have a half-capable lawyer.

If I remember correctly, there's about 2 paintball venues along Bottelary, look for a black VW there. Those guys are cowboys, especially if it is the guy that managed the paintball venue in Jonkers, hy het sulke wille oe gehad.

mmmm... bike jacking in the siuthern suburbs... target practice on the other side of the cape......

Be safe guys and lets get these guys off the road

While cycling down Main Road, Hout Bay past the graveyard just before Mandela Park, on Monday around lunch time, I passed two teenagers pointing what I took to be replica 9mm firearms at each other. There was one on each side of the road and the traffic passed between them. They were obviously seeking reactions from passing motors, perhaps a dry run for use later in an asset liberation exercise.

Passing very close to them in good light I could not tell whether they had real firearms or replicas. I assumed replicas as I hope that that type of individual would not have possession of a real firearm.

About the most frightening post i have seen in 8 years on the Hub.

My advice to a "gun noob" (good grief!)?
