Again - did this actually happen, or is it another line of speculation? And no - throwing a sachet at a rider cannot be considered attempted murder. Otherwise thousands of Argus supporters would be in tjoekie every year.

 

At most it would be an assault charge.

 

But again - that is purely hypothetical. The evidence at hand is formed by:

 

- Eyewitness Statement

- Driver Statement

- Video Evidence

 

 

To date, no rider that was in the pack has come forward with a statement of events.

 

I'm sure at least one of the riders must've made a statement when they handed themselves in at the police station? Also, if it is known as 'fact' that the driver says he was just stopped and was then attacked for no reason, then according to MCC's initial response, the cyclist were pelted with sachets, so therefore that must be 'fact' and not speculation?

 

Also, I've done 11 Argus cycle tours and I've never had a supporter pelt me with sachets of water / ice? You not even allowed to grab water while on the move? I've been pleasantly hosed down yes but maliciously pelted by a supporter, no.

When all the statements of witnesses and the parties involved have been taken, the State Prosecutor may decide to charge the driver and/or occupants of the van criminally if it appears that he/they acted in a manner which may have been unlawful.

 

All the events leading up to the assault caught on camera will be investigated.

All I know is, somebody should warn the guy hosing the Argus riders on Suikerbossie every year. Considering the last week's events, he is about to get the beating of a lifetime this Sunday

 

 

 

mind you In my youth ai wanted to clobber that twit with the cow bell on Suikerbossie. Instead I found it easier to dig deep within my suitcase of courage and ride faster to get away from that infernally annoying sound as soon as possible.

 

Negative thought, turned into positive action through consious choice....

Apparently the video is a fake, the judge decided that nobody would be dumb enough to still ride with a set of Spinergy wheels like that, it was really evident when, allegedly someone was seen punching the driver of a van after he was totally defenseless because someone offloaded half a can of pepper spray in his face.

Could it be that ... it was actually a case of attempted robbery? I put it to you that ... those cyclists were actually very thirsty and were trying to get to the water sachets in the back of the van. Thank you My Lady Lord.
