The importers ASG (I think) are helping dudes who unwittingly bought fakes, and Cyclelabs are also extending a hand. Check with them.

If you paid Pina prices then chalk it up to experience. If you paid Chinarello prices no harm done to your pocket. It remains a bike that will serve you for years.

Did the guy that sold it to you know it was a fake or was he also duped. Not much you can do anyway seeing as the sellers emigrated.

There are so many issues here, even if you do manage to get hold of the original seller and find out where the bike was bought.

1. The seller can dodge you all year long

2. Even if the seller cooperates, the shop in question will say that since you are not the original owner, they are not going to deal with you.

3. There is no way that anyone can prove that the bike in your hands is the one that left the shop originally.

4. Your insurance company is not going to be of any help. You insured a Pinarello, not a Chinarello, so unless you decide to wash your bike in full view of the closest taxi rank and then go to the spaza shop for a coke and come back with your bike gone, and forget to mention to your insurance company that you found out that your bike was fake, you're up the creek without a paddle here.

Next time when you buy a high end product, ask the seller to meet you at either the shop where he bought the bike from or a reputable dealer in the product in question to verify in writing that the bike authentic. Also get them to inspect the bike for any hairline cracks etc that may need to be dealt with under original purchasers warrantee before you take possession of the item.

Just been informed that the bike I bought from a guy that emigrated, is indeed one of the fakes. What to do ?

Write it off to school fees and forget about it

I think there are many people out there that think they are riding Pinarello's, while they are actually riding Chinarello's

I wonder how many of these people think that their Chinarello is the best ride they've ever had.

Bad luck man

All i can say is if you are at this stage have a legit pina to sell. GOOD LUCK. With all the fakes going around it is going to me a difficult task indeed.
