They should maybe add an open category (not eligible for price money) with a cheaper entry fee. Then we can see who the real hard men are.

If they do that virtually nobody will enter for the expensive option and rich mr porche guy will have to fund the million $ out of his backpocket and not from the entries.

Would imaging there'd be strict doping controls for that kind of prize money !

It says random testing for everyone and the top 20 definitely tested... Dopers banned from race for life.

As discussed with Alex last night. Endurance athletes who know and understand their sleep programs will have the advantage, the trick will be teaming up with someone similar. Everything else will be secondary to that.

Winner could very well not even be a pure cyclist as we understand it.

So if this is a CSA sanctioned event, the entry fee will be $10 000 + R35 CSA day licence.

That R35 has just put me off!

I'd love to see Alex and Martin Dreyer take this on as a team, two hard men.

I am pretty sure these two dont see eye to eye....anyway...martin would have to bring a book along to read while he waits for alex :whistling:

Or, if Mart rides with Jeannie, she can wait for Him so they can cross the line together. :whistling:

The organisers are trying to claim that it's a race for the underdog but I still recon some pros will win all the money and they have the sponsors to pay the entrance fees

Has the route been approved and is there a route profile available?

Pretty sure many SA pro's and top age group guys will race this.

International pro's have to race what sponsors tell them to. Sponsors want exposure and not sure how much they going to get how.

Fark.....that's a load of cash to drop on the first race????

Would like to know who are the sponsors to lay out a bar for prizes.

The route will only be revealed the day before.

I reckon you will get some barely heard of adventure racing machines from all over the world coming to give it a bash... Those extreme adventure racers, like Martin was, will do the lack of sleep and distance with their eyes closed.. Or should I say eyes open

Ha ha, OK, that's what I'm going to tell my mates!
