Had to defer on that ZZR1200, work being done at home putting a garage door on my enclosed carport to stash some of my bikes. Building a hard stand for my bike trailer too, also freeing up a little space. However, checking weekly on the bike…….if there at month end I may pull the trigger.
I have stumbled across an interesting Honda for my collection, a CX500 Turbo. Looks stunning but nothing I had ever thought of!

There’s a chap selling the Suzuki equivalent locally. XN85.

it would be lekker to have it. But it’s such a rare beast I would worry bout keeping it going.

Fellow Bike Enthusiasts

If any of you are participating in any events at the Knysna Oyster Festival, pop down to Sedgies on Sunday 6th. There will be some Classic bikes on display at the Eden Classic Car Show. Some real oldies to some early 2000’s. The organiser of the bike side has managed  to get them to allow bikes into 2000’s as we have found a lot of the younger folks just do not care much for the real oldies, say 50’s and 60’s (and earlier). Anyway, I guess it depends on the bikes one liked as a young person. There is a bit of an Italian theme for the cars so I will be there with a pair of Ducatis, my 1098 and 749.

Pop past and say Hi if you are there!Screenshot_20250618_153340_SamsungInternet.jpeg.d2d66e78ff22fc6a132c0a36498b83be.jpegScreenshot_20250618_153347_SamsungInternet.jpeg.2fe6dd056c5a19226e85dd3cff8eb6c8.jpeg

An update on the Natal Classic - bike ran really well.  I was nervous because it's basically a brand new engine and I was pushed for time so didn't have the opportunity to ride it much.  And weirdly even though I have built many engines and probably 5 of these DTs as I have got older I kept second-guessing myself - did I tighten the clutch bolt, did I assemble the oil pump correctly.  I guess that's just age.  The only issue I had was that I did feel compared to my other DT and also from what I remember this bike didn't quite run as well as I had thought it would.  Anyway, long story short I had a few 125LC carbs in my stash which are identical to the DT175 in size (but have a few small changes in jet passages etc) and have a few jet sizes different.  So I built a bit of a hybrid carb using a good 125LC body but with 175 jetting.  Now it goes like I remember - I think somewhere over time someone has fiddled with the carb.  Anyway, now it's done.  I'm just  having the seat redone - I never had time for that and the original foam is wasted so its bloody uncomfortable!

She arrived, but the battery is flat.

Got her charging a bit tonight, and will charge her again tomorrow ... do not want to leave a bike I do not "know" with a trickle charger connected to it through the night.

A few panel bolts required here and there from a first glance. The indicators will need replacing to look a little sharper, current foam filter is ok, but will replace with new to start with, oil is crystal clear, so he was rightly stating that the oil was changed 300km ago, prob. going to replace the battery anyway so I know it is good and then slowly go through her as I give her a shake down.

Named her Lucy, and I do not often name bikes or bicycles .... the LC4 motor = LLLL and the CCC = Llllluucccyyy and therefore Lucy

Did a bike trip through northern wales with 4 other blokes from the east rand who live here now. wales is stunningly beautiful and when them 6 numbers come in I will be relocating. Every morning was spent walking 6 or 7 kms before breakfast just taking in the beauty. Then we would plan the ride for the day. We stayed near Barmouth and rode every day from there as a base. Worked pretty well, weather was groovy. GSA did not miss a beat this trip, thankfully.

Did not take too many pictures. The first picture is not Wales, it’s west Kington. West Kington is where the safety dance was filmed by men without hats ( Canadian band) back in 1982. I like quirky things like that so made a stop there on the way.

last pic is hawkstone lager I found on tap in the Cotswold coming home. Had to try it. It’s pretty fu#£&*:* good actually.

Ice cream, I'm possibly going to the UK in September. I have a UK car licence via passing a driving test years ago while living there. But I also want a bike licence. Can I just send in my Saffer licence for exchange or is that route not possible any more? Ta

Yeah. Just send ur za licence in and you get motorcycle licence here. Easy peasy. Must be full licence. Not learners.

Some time back I posted about a potential ZZR1200 addition to the Rolling Thunder Garage………….well, at considerable more cost this little 2015 one owner, full service history 1400 came up in George. I could not resist. The ‘Busa was always my dream but after a lot of research and Uchoob authorative influence, I am thrilled to welcome this wee beastie to the garage.IMG_1683.jpeg.fb1fceed1576bd69d8f7ba0ef487ddce.jpegIMG_1684.jpeg.f95ca455454a559ae54e5646339d7092.jpeg
