    • I'll keep my 26" cause 650b is not that significant improvement....

Just my little 2 cents worth on this topic, I have owned a 29er and I did not like the bike at all, my reasons are that I am not an endurance rider. I ride Downhill and enduro, so my 26 inch downhill bike is perfect for me when riding dh and my dual 27.50 is perfect for me when riding enduro and xc. Everyone has their strengths and likes, just because your times are better in endurance racing does not mean your a better rider or your bike is better. Lets take a 29er and 27.50 and lets put them on an enduro hardcore trail, the 27.50 is better suited and will do better than the 29er. Lets take the 29er and the 27.50 and the downhill 26inch and put them on a Downhill course, 29er won`t even have a chance. At the end of the day every bike is designed for different purposes and riding so no wheel size is better than the other, everyone to their own. If I wanted to be cheeky I can mention that 29er riders feel they better than all others, but when they grow up they can come and be true mtb bikers and do downhill, come ride with the big boys instead of flashing your expensive bikes and hoping not to scratch them.

When I read posts like this my BS feelers come out in full force.

Over my years on this Hub I have admired many "hardcore" riders , wishing ,thinking and hoping I could aspire to their level.

Then it happens, a thing called a HUB RIDE, where I find myself sitting the night before with sweaty palms and a bad stomach as the nerves completely overwhelm me .

'How on earth am I going to keep up'

I find myself pitching up at said ride with my cheap steel bicycle and no front or rear suspension, hoping I can at least mange the first 10 minutes or the first few obstacles.

And then *boom* by the curly pubes of Zeus, it comes as a massive shock to the system, yes it is and the truth has revealed itself in the flesh.

Said hardcore rider is but a mere keyboard warrior and I wallow in the comfort that I have yet survived another day.

Ahhh Fred.... yes we have a similar scenario down here but our HUB rides are disguised as "training" rides... a crazed peloton of misplaced testosterone and struggling egos... This foolish frenzy takes place at night to help disguise the gulping of gels and agonised expressions!

Went from 20" wheels x 2,down to 55mm wheels x 4,then back to 20" x 2, then up to 26" x 2.. ;)

Some weekends ive even gone straight from the 55mm's to a 29".. with little worry :o

Jokes aside 20" to 26" way bigger step and then its not even...

55mm is a sk8board wheel

Like saying im scared to go from a cruiser board to a longboard...

And by the hairy nipples of Medusa's cat, we have a spokesperson.

That's great, kudos to him and his big balls, now let him come and do an ultra with us, different strokes for different folks.

He said "If i wanted to be cheeky" and stuff like "come ride with the big boys" so as I said.

My admiration levels are at an all time high, whether he has a spokesperson or not.

Easy there tiger. I'm no ones spokesperson. I'm just saying. He's no keyboard warrior. He rides damn well.

I love it!!

A little while we rode with a certain prominent SA lady cyclist  we had all the guys in full range of abilities there, testosterone pumping, ready to show their stuff. Flexing...posing talking trash before the ride....like dogs sniffing each others bums.....so me on my steel frame 26er and OH on an SS decide to hang back an watch the action unfold.....Three serious accidents later due to people simply showing off...we had a good laugh when we got home. When your ego exceeds your ability its just downhill from there!!
