So, who's doing 2 laps of the 94.7 this year ???

Most definitely! Racing the 1st lap and then taking the wife for a relaxed 2nd lap on the tandem.

Planning on cutting through passed the Wanderers to Bompas and then down to Jan Smuts at Hyde Park - 76km for the 2nd lap amongst the middle of the field.

I'm making a video like I did for Argus, and since there are no street view images in Steyn City, I took a drive out there with a dash board camera. I spoke to the Steyn City COO, Mr Gary Lees. He gave no reasons, but I was not given access. Based on this interaction, I would phone them first.

Thanks. I guess like private property on a MTB race, I guess we'll have to wait for race day to ride through Steyn City

I haven't seen anything.

But then again. The masses on a mtb route. Eish pappie. What do I know. I know nothing!

I love watching this mtb race, lots of bottlenecks

To maintain a sub 3hr, how much faster would one have to go then?

Taking the start and finish into consideration, I take it the ave speed will be lower?

On a 26inch with knobblies?

Given that the distance remains the same you would have to ride at the same average speed as last year...

Your required average speed on a 26inch with knobblies would have to be the the same as well...

Thanks for that sharp response to an actual doff question. Waiting for my 3pm coffee/caffeine.

Let me rephrase: How much more effort is required for a sub 3 then? Will the average completion time increase VS 2013. Maybe someone has some record over the last 15 years or so on the finishing times. Has there been faster finishing times over the years between the different routes?

Sorry I just couldn't resist...

To answer your actual question I think we will only really know once the race is done, too many factors to take into account. Thinking of the Argus everybody thought the finishing times would be faster when they took out Boyes drive and then the opposite happened..

this is a brand new route, there are no times set yet, this year will be the first. Seems you are asking how long a piece of string is... there is no definitive answer.

The distance from what we understand is exactly the same, so you will know what your average speed needs to be whether you do it on a road bike, 29er, 26er or a bmx for that matter
