I don't know if it will happen as planned. The new start includes roads & a development that hasn't been approved via the "above board" route. Rumour has it that it was all approved on a Monday morning, after objections were closed on the previous Friday afternoon... The Kyalami / Dainfern & Saddlebrook Home Owners (amongst others) are doing their best to stop this development. If that interdict is successful, they might have to move the start/finish to Blue Hills Equestrian Estate, on the R55 (its an option)

Blue Hills is where the cycle show was held wasn't it?

I don't recall there being 25000 parking spaces there . . . So could get a bit tricky.

Either way I'm looking forward to a good ride :-)

Think I will wait a bit before I enter, would like to do this one. May be more tough, but it will be brilliant if I can maybe beat my time from last year.

I have a friend in Broadacres, think I will go and park at his place and do the 7km ride to the start, warm-up will be good!

This will now be much closer to (time wise) the Argus. Remember altitude. I like a few climbs early on to break up the bunch a bit. Also I like the punchy hills. 2 lapper planned but timing may become harder to get right. Worried about shambles at the MTB though.

My thinking is in the lines of Waterfall probably shutting their venue to the event.

More like century property wanting to promote their new highly contentious commercial / industrial development at Riversands which I believe the adjoining community is completely against.

I wonder of the narrowness of the roads leading to Kyalami. With the old route the bunches would spread out over the highway (referring specifically to the later starters). Now there will be many inexperienced riders on a two lane road with no shoulders and punchy hills. Think there will be many more accidents. Hope I am wrong.

Take the plunge! It's JHB's biggest race! So HTFU! It will be tough whether it's the old route or the new route! If it doesn't hurt, you're not cycling fast enough!

Revised as per their website this morning

With the amount of entries they generate you'd think the organizers will provide you with a much more professionally designed profile of the route.

I'm sure they will give a better looking profile graphic closer to the time. They probably just put this up there as an indication in the interim while they get the real one done accurately.

Think I might go rouge with this event this time, really can't face driving to 4 Ways area, even under normal day-to-day conditions its traffic hell.

cycle to the start and back...
