You wouldn't have said that before he returned the positive test, how does that change his past results. Agreed. If we had to put together a list if riders that have made suspicious step changes to their careers rather than constant progression Froome would be near the top of the list! Ultimately it's all poppycock - only the riders and perhaps a few people around them really know if they're doping or not.The bilharzia story could explain that, you just have to decide whether you believe it's the reason or the cover up. It probably won't be popular, but I would put Burry Stander near the top of that list too. He signed up with the spaz team and went from a top30 rider to a top5 rider very quickly. Was it because he was now getting the best bikes/team/training/salary, was it because he was just coming into his prime as a youngster? Or was it because he joined a highly sophisticated doping ring? Sauser/kulhavy et al have done damn well for a long time and never ever turned in a positive test so you'd have to believe that it's not the case. Unfortunately that's the territory cycling lives in, you can't celebrate anyone's success as it will always just have an asterisk. Tumbleweed 1
