Spot on... it's unique and it's going to be fun if you approach it with the right attitude. The storm water drains I have seen have been cleaned (and are still being cleaned), the scaffolding is very rideable (the stair ones are for a quick portage ;) ), there will be bottle necks I reckon, but hey, have a chat with your friends, share a laugh, enjoy being on your bike with like minded people

We're riding the Koppies, storm water drains, golf courses, a 700m long underground tunnel; we go through Zoo lake, over Jan Smuts, on a bridge over Oxford, ride next to a highway, through parks, and then finally hit the Spruit for the final cruise home, which includes a massive floating bridge. And there's beer at the finish

Horrible, horrible day out, gonna stay at home and mow the lawn or go hit some endless jeep track

I saw the floating bridge being constructed this morning as I drove past Emmarentia. Super amped.

I'm going for a ride not a race, looking forward to that 1st beer

100% absolutely agree with you.

Anyone expecting anything different is going to be disappointed; this is most definitely a ride and not a race, unless you start in A batch. I did the back half of the 52km on Saturday and it is pretty much the length of the Spruit from Paulshof to Emma - those who have done it will know it's single track all the way with few opportunities to pass. Pack your tolerance and leave testosterone at home.

Sit back, enjoy the first half through storm water drains & tunnels and then the way back to Emma for what it is.... and then.... BEERTIME!

I see the water bridge has the same building blocks as the one used at Sani2C. I like!

Glad to see some positive comments coming thru.... To those who are afraid that when a rider goes down he takes out 10 riders..... I am sure I have seen a rider go down on a Tour de Frans and they take out 20 riders sometimes. And I am sure 80% riders who entered are just doing this for the fun.

Just to clear up 2 things

1- we are riding through Storm Water drains, not sewers, they occasionally function as sewers when the council forgets to do their job.

2 - Not all 5000 people will be doing the storm water drains, only those that do the 52km from what I understand, so thats 2500, a lot less.

I think im going to put my cell in 2 plastic bags just to be safe.

They had better put me in A bunch because im going for STRAVA

You're a different case entirely. As the spruit's very own Danny McK, you'll just hop, jump, or rock your way over other obstacles and other riders!

22km also has some Storm water drains... it just misses the 700m underground Anatomic tunnel  ;)
