This is really the reason why I don't let my kids participate in races where the kiddies or fun rides follow the same course as the other races.. and if I do I make damn sure that the kids start time is well planned as to avoid something like this. Jigghead Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Good thinking by whoever stopped anyone from taking the brake lever out of the wound. I believe that is where most of the damage occurs on these types of injuries as the item stuck in the fella could actually be stopping the bleeding. Apparently pulling out a knife or other object when it goes in often allows the blood to start flowing and the injured could quite possibly bleed out. On the other thread it seems like the kid was riding the 50 km distance as the incident happened at about the 25 km mark. 1. What was the kid doing on the 50 km race. He looks about 10 years old. Isn't there a age restriction based on distance?2. Why was he riding alone and where was his chaperon or adult supervision?3. Why was he mixing it up with the big boys? From My experience... Yes there are some guys who ride inconsiderate but as you go back in the field it calms down and people are more aware of other riders and do give way. nonky and Wyatt Earp 2

I have to agree with some comments that IF whoever did this ever gets found out that he should face the full extent of the parents wrath... civil & criminal liability.... make him pay for a very very long time!!!
