Name and shame him. Its a very poor attitude to do this! Also send to the supplier! Help us to help outselves in the future.

Fanie, some advice.

Man up, and phone him. Don't hide behind email and silly messages. Call him and discuss the issue.

Unless you're not really looking to resolve it and are just wanting a half-arsed attempt at self justification

I think he did call him, hence the voice messages?

In my opinion, if you are using the hub to communicate especially around races and what not, and then drop the ball and be proceed to be a dick, especially when fingered for theft, then you should automatically understand that you can and will be named and shamed publicly.

Everybody on TheHubSA knows this in some way or fashion, so should expect it.

NAME AND SHAME!

Option 22. Invite the guy for a coffee and have a good chat about it. Sounds like the guy is young - he might just be really tight on cash, and he might feel like a big a-hole about dropping the team already.

Maybe just show him a way out that he feels he has a realistic opportunity at redeeming himself?

Top Tip: Hand out kit on Friday night before DC

and pray to G_d the shammy works with your tjommie? If I was sponsoring a DC team I'd want them to be training as a group in my kit months before the event. How much exposure does a sponsor of a mid-pack team get in an event with extensive road closures anyway?

We found that it works quite well to have riders use their own bibs (black only) and design our kit around black shorts. Unless you are prepared to ride the race in under 6 hours sponsored shorts start to hurt, particularly if you are used to riding with top-end shorts. It also cuts the costs from +- R1 600 per rider to about R400 per rider. You could even supply 2 x shirts. We opted one year for branded cool bags for our team instead of a second shirt. Each rider had his name on the bag and it made the support crew's job a hell of a lot easier to load and unload cooler bags of the same size and shape.

Fanie you will know if you have exhausted all options of getting in touch with the chap and he is still playing hide and seek. Those actions make it really valid to just expose him.

And yes, if we lose someone from the community then so be it. The people looking to get involved here need to know there is accountability to behave properly in both online and real life interaction.

You clearly had a limited budget to put together a team and with those cash constraints in place, attempted to do as much as you could for the riders. Not worth losing what sponsorship you had over some chap who refuses to fit into the structure of the team and the sponsor loses his set of kit altogether.

If I were you I would look at it from this perspective. If you buy a new set of kit for the sponsor you're essentially paying for this chap's kit. How do you feel about swallowing that pill??

Really?? Did you not read Fanie's responses? The guy does not answer, does not pick up the phone and not answering any messages.

Two thoughts: broken window theory, and R61000 banners.

The guy's a douche, but he will not change his current mindset unless compelled to. You doing nothing is leaving the window broken, giving leeway to his douchery. The world of douchery is not your problem, but this one particular specimen clearly is.

Banners: how pissed/disadvantaged are you really? How far are you willing to take this to fix the window? The world may not know of your deeds, nor be grateful, but you certainly will be doing the world a favour.

Throw the book at this tool. Fix the window!
