Grebel Posted April 1, 2015 Share Without having to start a new thread and along the "Up yours DSTV" line.... Firstly, apologies for the hijack.... Can someone please explain very briefly how sabnzbd works? The way I understand it is that it is a closed user group with P2P functions. Is there a monthly cost involved? What is the sport access like (if any)? I have heard that torrents are slowly becoming a thing of the past... and if the rate at which the sites are being shut down, I can believe it! Edit: Or maybe I misinterpreted what this sabnzbd is about all together and I'm on the wrong track here completely........ Vangar Posted April 1, 2015 Share Without having to start a new thread and along the "Up yours DSTV" line.... Firstly, apologies for the hijack.... What is the sport access like (if any)? I have heard that torrents are slowly becoming a thing of the past... and if the rate at which the sites are being shut down, I can believe it! Ermmm, I think you mean SABNZBD, ok so first: https://www.binaries4all.com/nzb/ That explains how NZB works. SABNZBD is a client side piece of software for downloading files from newshost servers. The advantage of newshost downloading over torrents is the closed nature of it as well as the longer file retention. To download from newsgroups there are a couple of things needed: 1.) The client, SABNZBD is the most popular2.) A usenet server account, some ISP's have public newshost servers but these are speed restricted a lot of the time so a paid one is better. http://www.astraweb.com/ works out to about R75 per month for unlimited downloads.3.) A usenet indexer, this actually hosts the files pointing to downloads. For best results at least 2 are needed, there are public ones available but they generally don't have API access (more on this later). Two good ones for SA are https://nzbgeek.info/index.php and https://www.oznzb.com/. There are local services as well but these are invite only, so these are good options.4.) Now you have everything you need to start downloading, but what to download, and why manually? This is where Sonarr comes in https://sonarr.tv/. Sonarr manages a tv show library (Of completely legal and free public domain documentaries of course) and will automaticall search an indexer for a file, using the API's, send it to SABNZBD to download, redownload or search for another one if it fails, then rename the file, move it to the correct TV show folder and update the database. You can also just add the name of perfectly legal free new documentaries and Sonarr will search for and download them. As for sport, I see there is some uploaded, so yes you should be able to get these as well. Hope this answers the question and here is a guide below. http://trendblog.net/install-sonarr-and-nzbget-for-total-tv-show-automation/ DISCLAIMER: Once again this is all about downloading completely legal and free items and should not be used for any copyrighted content. Lurch the stalker Posted April 1, 2015 Share I told DSTV to go to hell this week after I saw what the price will be from the end of April. Sure I'll miss SuperSport, but I'll get over it. mrbaker and Wil6
davem Posted April 1, 2015 Share So we start a new month without DSTV. Have turned it on and off multiple times in the past. Probably will put it back on for the TDF. Mmm, what to do this evening.

Wil6 Posted April 8, 2015 Share Anybody using pay sites to stream sport? I did a quick search and found this one : http://streamtvbox.com/site/more-information/ It has all of the sport channels and some are in HD. For 10.99 it would cost you about R180per month
