I actually think that cover is rather nice and tasteful, I expected to see a bikini clad oiled down pic by the rant about it

She looks absolutely delighted.

Maybe a bit much is being made here.. the pictures are all tasteful

you often see pro ladies warm up without their shirts on, and unzip on a hot day.. End of the day, if she was not happy to do the cover like that she wouldn't have.

I also found the latest edition of Mountain Bike magazine to be distasteful and insulting of actual women mountain bikers. I'd be much more relevant to have images of Vera actually riding her bike (which she happens to be really good at) and the article about women riders not being confident and competitive is complete rubbish.

Sadly the attitude of the magazine is clearly held by many a rider. Countless times during W2W guys thought my partner to be unworthy of heading into single track before them (busted a gut to cut in front of her) only to end up being an obstruction with their lack of ability. Such antics were reserved solely for her and never for me.

Did you read past the cover?

Cos there were pics of her on her bike and standing on a podium.....all in cycling kit.

I'll write to the editors and insist that in future all female athletes only be photographed in a Burka

Totally hijacking this thread to rant about a different topic, shem W2W all you did was give us a rather nice magazine, besides these sexist images. My point is that male MTBers would never be posed and sexualised like this. I dont expect that Vera minds the images, she did afterall pose for them. But my boyfriend heard Teresa Ralph also complaining about it at the Adventure so I am not alone in my thinking. Women are trying to be taken seriously as cyclists. Dont even get me started about the podium girls at the Engen Cycle in the City - giving the ladies their prizes while dressed in their DHL stormers cheerleaders hotpants. Equality! Give us hunky bare chested men if you get scantily clad ladies!

just for you, a serious oke

Thanks Hairy, that oke is totes from the East of Joeys, Boet.

And dont worry I made nice with the boys on the trail who were walking. They own a Pick n Pay at that fancy spot in Durbanville. And I also suggested to the sweetie who was unclipping that if he keeps his  feet in it would be better for him, see Im helpful.

Any other females pissed off by the Vera Adrian pictures on the front of the MTB magazine we were given? Ridiculous sexist pictures of her better suited to Sports Illustrated Swimwear edition. Show me a woman who cycles with her jersey zipped down. Sexist!!!!

I was working at a MTB water table last December on a hot day - 2 out of every 3 ladies rode 'zipped down' and was quite a sight on arrival leaning forward on the handle bar. Nothing negative was said between the 4 males at the table. In fact only compliments.

RED FONT: Must have been the JHB riders.

BLUE FONT: I will keep a keen eye out and report back. The pics taken though were exceptionally cheesy artistically I would say.

RED FONT: I think it was. Saw 2 guys at Cpt Int on Sunday evening flying back to Jhb patched up with plasters and bandages covered with roasties as well.  :whistling:

You make a very solid pointS.

The only thing worse than distasteful pictures are relentless leftists.

Go over to the Lady Pros thread and ask yourself, "If it was so distasful, why are these athletes allowing pictures to be take of them".

CleatsnCleavage ranting about cleavage. ORLY???

Exactly. Special kind of stupid.

Sounds like someone who complains about women being seen as sex symbols, but brags to her friends about using her cleavage to get free drinks.
