Maybe your thread heading should be "Emmarentia vs a small section of cycling a~holes in spandex riding like w~~kers"

I've experienced them first hand when walking with my old man when he walks his dogs.

I can't help but sympathise with the frustration of the person who made that poster TBH.

That was pretty decent. Even went to the effort of printing and mounting. Good work.

Note: I wear baggies and am not in Jozi. :)

Not many people understand the concept of Strava!

Go as farking fast as possible, ride over anything in your path, and hope someone's beloved pet doesn't get stuck in your wheels!

They should just end the bikes in emmarentia story. Ask the spruit fairies to build some more whipping lines up in Alberts farm and Montgomery park. Cyclists can cross Beyers at the fire station and be done with this recurring wallop we constantly deal with. Over and over and over and over.

What a load of k a k.

According to the by-laws, a dog is not allowed unless it is on a lead. This is clearly marked at each entrance to Emmarentia.

The same board says no cyclists are allowed.

I'll adhere to the by-laws if all the dog-walkers do too.

Must be a strava-ahole wrecking it for the rest of us

I use strava. Only to track the mileage of my bike. I give walkers and dogs plenty space, and always greet everyone.

You can always spot the a-holes that dont greet back and feel that the spruit and the dam are racetracks.

In a way I agree with the poster, however I do have an issue with people with their dogs (canine or angry wife) off the leash always charging bikers and running into their path. Rules are rules.

The guy who made that poster must either be a) a cyclist as he points out facts and where to find the rules etc or b) someone who wants to be a cyclist and can't cos he/she is a wanker and no bike shop will help them.

In heavily used parks like that one, Strava segments should just be flagged.

It's a beautiful place to ride, but it's not conducive to Strava blasts. It's not safe for any party.

There are some sections that are really only MTB friendly (like the ridge up by the fence) but once a segment goes up, we know that we cannot help ourselves ;)

This touches on a the same topics a few threads this week have. Just show some consideration for others. The last thing we want is for some bored tannie who's poodle got run over by an Enduro maniac to start some anti cyclist protest or petition.

Or he has access to the internet.
