I used to ride The Spruit on my own from around 04h00, before it was dangerous, and on one occasion water in the Camelbak hose actually froze. Get good gloves, a cycling balaclava, warm cycling jersey/top, buff and whatever else you'll need and HTFU!

 

It's getting out of bed that's usually the problem. Some of my best rides were in the dark freezing winter mornings.

Easy 5-7 degrees in Pta at 4am today.  Dipped to 3.7 at points.....

Not bad for July.....

Twice a week I work in uncomfortably cold conditions for 12h. As has been mentioned - I have no choice when racing BUT I do have a choice in winter and cycling is not my work, so IDT and later weekend rides and HUGE RESPECT for the riders that are more committed than me.

We can't really complain about cold weather at the coast.The guys in Europe manage to train throughout winter and they seem to survive.That said while doing a 45 minute ride on my idt :whistling:  :whistling:

i've done one pre 7am ride this winter. I decided never again. so i'm definitely a fair weather rider and I'm ok with that.
