Scott, would the Asics stability shoes not have been a better choice if you pronate a lot or why did you go the nimbus route?    Anybody knows if you get the gt1000 and gt2000 also in wide fits?

My wife is in NB light stability now and although she did not like the nimbus at all (I was also not fond of my cumulus AT ALL), she was mostly unhappy with the nimnus because the seams caught her little toes and the shoe was too narrow.

Now they are also seamless and if they come in wide fit, perhaps the gt range is something to look into for her in the future?

PS: This shoe question is for my wife, so it does not add to my at least half a dozen shoes questions right?  :whistling:

Compare this to the asics and in the Red block you will clearly see how the sole of the shoe is so soft that it creates a "roll" effect for someone who pronates like i do.

And for my Active Shoes, i liked the Nimbus , or shall i say the Nimbus suited my running flaws

Thanks. As I'm building for the L'Etape SA in April, I will only consider running around the block for the next few months. Hopefully come May, I'll be ready to run the full distance - plodding/walking would best describe my 5K attempts at the moment

try run 3 times a week, guarantee within a month you will br running 5kms easy !!

My wife has just moved from the Nimbus to the GT2000 and is very happy... they also pushed her up another half size. She's running in 7's now and is 6 for normal shoes. Mainly due to her second toe being her longest - it was taking a hammering on long runs. She never had issues with the width on the Nimbus though.

I don't pronate much, only slightly. When i went for the leg assessment at SBR Mike put me in the Nimbus and Brooks as well as Saucony, in none of them did i pronant. The NB however i ended up pronating so much it was initially thought i would need to move to a stability shoe.

Which of the Brooks and Saucony models did you try?

I started the C25K program in December but slacked off a bit in the last two weeks. Currently on week 3 day 2, so hope to continue now that I have semi-decent shoes.

Woke up at :04:30 to do a 1 1/5 h run, went outside and it's raining cats and dogs with thunder thrown in between. Nothing else I could do but to get back into bed. I still bloody feel guilty for nut running.....

On the other hand, how did everyone else do on the Johnsons Crane Marathon?

Bailed at 21.1 today. Just no motivation to do another lap basically. Battling with motivation full stop with running to be honest.

Well run event.

Mini rant - why do I overtake mobile chicanes for the first couple of kays, why don't these ppl start at the back of the field instead of in the front. And I run slow.

My last timed event before IM I reckon, will need to work on motivation.

You are starting to sound like a runner now! Complaining about inconsiderate walkers [emoji23]

Crazy how you always feel guilty when missing a run, starting to believe that running is an addiction.

Johnson's was good only did the first lap and got caught up in the fast pace at the start and had to fight to maintain it all the way till the end. Was able to break a couple of personal records so I'm happy with the way the day turned out.

Nice run... you definitely smashed it! Lekker fast course that, also got a little ahead of myself and ending up dying a hundred deaths the last 4/5 kilometres of the marathon. Was still on 6min a kay til around 35km's, then slowed a bit, and then an awful lot as I started to cramp pretty much everywhere down in my legs.

After looking good for a pb of around 4:20 I ended up limping home in 4:40.

The last 3.2 km's alone took me over 40minutes  The last 400metres an impressive 8 minutes... I must have been a sight

Definitely went just a little too hard, and also fell short on getting enough fluids etc in - really struggled on the day with taking any sweet stuff. Basically just took one gel and a rehidrat on course... I normally take about double that.

Some lessons learnt, will try take a bit of heart from the good first 35km's

From a few friends that ran it, Ottasdal seems like a very lekker race - think I might give that a bash next year!
