Hacc Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 EDIT: As sporting people no matter which discipline we need to look after each others safety and end this nonsense culture of entitlement. I agree with this!We always give way to the cyclists and most of them do the same. ScottCM 1
EmJayZA Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) Sorry Emjay but i TOTALLY disagree with you here. As runners we run against the flow of traffic, a cyclist has his or her back to the traffic and can't see cars coming as easily as a runner who is facing them can. Therefore I strongly believe and live by the notion that it is the Runners responsibility to move out the way, either into the road if traffic is clear and indicate to the cyclist that they can keep left or onto the pavement if there is traffic coming! EDIT: As sporting people no matter which discipline we need to look after each others safety and end this nonsense culture of entitlement. Yeah, I agree 100%. But, as I am cyclist who would love more respect and room on the road (from vehicles), I will provide the same courtesy to other road users as long as I am safe and if it is within the rules of the road. Which really does talk to the last part of your post. Edited May 14, 2018 by EmJayZA ScottCM and Mr Winter 2
Paddaman Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 If everyone went from the departure point of the sanctity of life, and the value of human life things would be easier from the start. Yes people do silly things and have suicidal tendencies, but that does not mean we have to be idiots and help them achieve an early departure. It is easy to be bravado about being the "king of the road" until you are involved in a fatal collision with a runner or cyclist. That is an instant culpable homicide case, and you will go to the grave knowing that your negligence resulted in a death. I am sure only a psychopath will be able to sleep with that on their conscious.
SeaBee Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I quite frequently encounter cyclists where I run - and more often than not I get greeting back, smiles and even comments of WTF - we struggle to ride to this point! But ja, you get a-ho... ehhhrrr... idiots everywhere.

But ja, you get a-ho... ehhhrrr... idiots everywhere.I have only done 3 cradle runs and every time all the cyclist are very friendly. I do known quite a few of them. I have heard about this very brave mucho cyclist giving runners lip in the Cradle from a female runner friend. Seems like he knows who to pick on. Pity he does not greet me in the same fashion as well.
