Rocket-Boy Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 So this is happening soon, cant wait!http://alexandria.run/Some of the most awesome scenery you run in and nice and close to where I live.
jdwet1980 Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 Yeah, I am one of the creepy daily watchers of this forum but not really much of a poster as I learn more from the forum than I can offer! But yes I made the news this morning, fault of my own but will wait and see what comes of it. The committee will have to punish someone to set a president and if it's me I'm okay with that. Just a bit sad the way it has all happened when there really was no bad intentions behind the whole thingIf they ban you, you can run in my bib. Jokes aside, I hope for kind hearts and a good outcome. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk Andrew Steer, Barry Stuart, Reegan and 1 other 4
Barry Stuart Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Yip . I agree. She did the right thing to come clean. The other girl with excuses and Photoshop claims is just making a story out this. She should have just told the truth as well. What drama have I missed?
Barry Stuart Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 There is no excuse for throwing rubbish onto the road or even worse lobbing rubbish into drainage ditches or miles into the roadside bushes. Assuming there are sufficient numbers of bins spaced a suitable distance from tables if a runner is seen littering race organisers need to start with on the spot disqualification. Simple as that That was one of the lowlights of the Arthur Cresswell for me. There were NO rubbish bins. I'm not exaggerating when I say that. 52km of what is essentially farm road and I was watching people tossing their sachets over bridges into rivers, into the bushes, onto the road, into ditches. The mentality from organisers and participants alike was bizarre. Andrew Steer 1

Any feedback helps Barry Stuart 1
Barry Stuart Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 What drama have I missed? No worries, found it. Sorry about the mess, Reegan but geez Charmaine didn't help herself with the 'Photoshop' explanation. Andrew Steer and Hacc 2
Ferret69 Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 No worries, found it. Sorry about the mess, Reegan but geez Charmaine didn't help herself with the 'Photoshop' explanation. 100% I feel for you Reegan, but Charmaine's " shift the blame" tactics have just made it worse. And she continues to hold the " we are nobodies so leave us alone" attitude.. Just say you (Charmaine not you) cocked up and you are sorry and it will all go away. Andrew Steer 1
Andrew Steer Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 (edited) No worries, found it. Sorry about the mess, Reegan but geez Charmaine didn't help herself with the 'Photoshop' explanation. Yeah, that was a bit of a strange idea from her... but people make mistakes, especially when put on the spot like she was. This looks a very innocent situation, one brought on largely by the OMTOM substitution process being a bit extreme in my books - charging R165 to do a substitution is very much on the high end. It literally takes a minute or two to update on the system and it's done. No extra cost to the organisers as the same race number is used, the goodie bag is the same, the shirt size is not changed. Not even a neurosurgeon charges R165 a minute. If the cost was more client friendly, I am sure you would find a lot more people not risking any shortcuts. Cant agree more The only Silly part that makes it look worse and "preplanned" is Charmaine ran in Reegan's Number AND timing chip as far as I can gather... She (Charmaine) was not going to get her own "finish" anyway so why wear any chip?... Just go without and this would never have been picked up at all.. You still get your medal without a chip, just not a result and official finish in future records.. Barry Stuart and Andrew Steer 2
Mudsimus Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 No worries, found it. Sorry about the mess, Reegan but geez Charmaine didn't help herself with the 'Photoshop' explanation. Why make up such a silly excuse if it was all innocent? And timing chips dont come in race bags, or am I missing something?
ycowley Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Also do not understand why the chip was handed over for somebody else to run with. Anyway, sounds like punishment will be dealt and hopefully lessons learnt.

Mudsimus Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 (edited) Why on earth are you doing an 80k week? ???? Edited June 18, 2018 by Mudsimus
tjommies3 Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Why on earth are you doing an 80k week? My qualifier is on 2nd September - Vaal River City Marathon - and I am aiming to do a 3:30, and at worst sub 3:40 to get a C seeding for Comrades. Barry Stuart, Hacc and Frosty 3
