Heads up for Deloitte's on Sunday - if you don't want to get delayed (too much) at the start make sure you are early to get a good starting position.

Last year there were ~10k runners + over the three distances.

So there's a good chance I'll be getting myself a Garmin watch. As much as I was leaning towards Polar.... I saw yesterday that Sportsmans Warehouse have a special on the Garmin Forerunner 235. It looks like a lekker watch, and it seems to have more than enough features for what I need it for.

Hahaha thats the best.

I had a race with my mate at the end of Two Oceans many moons ago, cramping and severely dying we must have looked hysterical 'sprinting' that final 50m of the field. Good times

Edit: I jacked 2 pics from Jetline...

I can't remember if it was this thread or another, but it had to do with arming yourself with pepper spray or the like against would-be attackers.

I was out this morning running along a road next to the Braamfontein spruit. Its still pitch black because winter is creeping closer and closer, and the roads were still empty. I hear some shouting coming from the spruit. I realized quickly though it was just someone shouting at their dogs to come along or something to that effect.

I got thinking though, what would I do if it was someone calling for help from down in the darkness of the spruit, or anywhere really?

The stories from cycling the cradle where people will use an old man or woman to lie on the side of the street, only for you to stop and try help, and get clobbered by others lying in wait, has really shaken me - not so much the theft part but the sheer audaciousness of thieves these days.

It would kill me to run past someone calling for help, but it might just 'kill me' if I do stop and try help. I just don't know anymore....

You won't regret it.

I love Deloitte's. Very tough race, but mentally so worth it. Beautiful route and I like the support.

I have been stuck in the portaloo queue twice when the gun went off... Try and make a loo stop at a garage close to the start.

I think you would be able to differentiate between real pleas for help and fake ones Edited by Stretch

On a similarish note. In November last year on a frosty morning I headed out for my run while on holiday. Along the way I come upon this guy passed out drunk on the side of the road. Temps at 8 are about 3 or 4 so it was chilly the night before. I look at him.. He's white as a ghost...I pause... Should I do something? I give him a little kick... And he rouses...whew! He jumps up and says "fxxx it's cold" and stumbles along

+1

How does it perform with cycling? just in case I'm in the mood to take the bike for a spin. I believe it's predominantly a running watch.

Serious question...what do you do with the pics from races? Regardless of the price...do you print out photo's of yourself and put them on the wall?

I'm honestly curious? I have a couple printed of myself with some mates running during a race but seems weird to me to hang a picture of just myself running.
