My understanding is this is going to limited, as long as you in the top 10 you are okay. Although I could have this completely wrong. They have cut it for the third party apps as well.

Agreed on the route planner, there are so many options for this. It just means switching to another platform.

Are these changes going to drive subscription, I'm not convinced.

Top ten.... that’s a relief ????

I have been running with Stryd for about 3 years now so I am very familiar with Power running.  My CP for running is around 300W.  When I was at my very fittest and strongest a few years back it was around 330W.  I don't think in all my training have I ever hit 400W+ even on some proper uphills. To run at an Average of 431W is incredible.  Hats off to Richard - that is a brilliant run.

Why has that Cuan oke not said anything? He demanded proof, here it is, now what?

This is my problem with social media in large - the catastrophic lack of accountability. All people do is talk sh*t when it suits them. Its pathetic.

He was very vocal, now nothing. Some of the SA road runners are also not taking it very well.

I also run with Stryd and only get close to 400w when doing fast hill repeats!!  I agree that running that average is incredible!!

The doubters wanted proof, he obliged. Make of it what you want. The allegations on Twitter is rife. It's the fastest road 5km by a South African runner.

Good gosh, that is fast. As i said before, these triathles are crazy fit humans. Even when they are doing cycle races they are in the mix with the elites.

As with any running I see these days I always bring stats it back to my man Eliud...

Give or take a few seconds a lap - yes it adds up to a lot over a 5 kay, but still - our Kenyan mate kept up that pace for 42kms.

Blows my mind every time.

I have not been following this.. But cuan walker is a wanker. As a matter of interest 13:37 if ironically the exact time that is the Norwegian world record that jakob ingergritsen is going to try beat tonight. I can see why there is doubt...13:37 is very very fast

Edit.. Went and googled. Cuan made one comment "vaporfly's next %" I don't understand that.. Is he disputing any record me with the Nike's? The road 10km, 5km, 21.1 and 42.2 have all been achieved with vaporfly's

Most definitely not. He is the biggest Nike fanboy. He will always be at the front defending.

RD has provided the proof, and its a crazy fast time. He was always going to take flack for it, a damned if you do, damned if you don't.  He will definitely have created some hype around himself and maybe got the competition thinking a little. Which if that was his aim, he has achieved it.

As somebody pointed out. The Ingebritson brothers haven't done that on the track yet.

Two things that need to be Q on his run.

  1. It is not a measured course
  2. It was a rolling start
  3. He was moto* paced

The course could have been short or long, so he could just as easily been even quicker. But it is hard to claim PB on your GPS only. A quick comparison: his gps shows -15m avg elevation and topo maps show avg of +9m

Rolling start makes a huge difference, just ask anybody trying to hit a target pace on an interval.

Moto pacing also helps massively, yes in a race you get to draft other athletes but this is generally not as efficient and then tactics come into play.

People are going to question it, and at some point they look like D!ckheads for being trolls. It was a good even a great effort but with the above he doesn't come out clean either.

My position, take it for what it is. A really great training run that shows how much damage he can do to his competition.  Move on.

Elite Tri's are crazy fit, however they can't mix with elite cyclists. This is just not true. I can't think of one of them that would be able to finish a WT race in a meaningful position - Nino couldn't and there is no doubt he pushes some serious watts. Only a few Elite Cyclists can cross over disciplines between cycling. MvDP, Stybar, Vos, PFP, Aerts are current riders.

Don't make the mistake of comparing local events and elite Athletes.

Elite Tri's are great at what they do, multiple discipline races.

When i am  talking elites, i was referring to our local elite ( sponsored ) cyclists. Not the world tour riders.

.

Slight correction...Jakob has a 13:02 on the track.. And today he is looking to beat the road record of 13:37.. Which he ultimately will

I gathered that, it isn't reflective, semi elite working Joe's can hang with our local elites. Most of them (sponsored) wouldn't/don't hack it at a conti level. They are glorified show ponies, yes I went there. The truly elite ones are not racing here by and large. I don't know the local tri scene but I would imagine it is similar.
