dave303e Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 In summary: optical HR sensors are s**t and should not be used outside of laboratory conditions. Use a chest strap. I think this is also relative to the person in question and their wrist and how they wear it. I have a heartrate strap and wrist based heartrate for my current watch. If you went through my training logs you wouldn't be able to tell which were wrist and which were strap readings for my running. Ultra running- not having a strap on is a good way to have 1 less potential chafe spot. That being said the strap makes the watch battery last longer. so there are pros and cons either way.

Stretch Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I moved from a chest strap to a dedicated optical one on my arm and the difference has been noticeable. The chest strap was inconsistent and battled in cooler winter mornings. My average was much higher with the cheat strap compared with my arm one. The arm HR being closer to what I would expect to see. Maybe I just needed to replace my Garmin unit because I tried a new strap. All that said...I have replaced a chafe on my chest with an odd suntan on my Arm
Stretch Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Bekele out of London. Calf injury.. UghWas very disappointed to read this
Chris_ Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Camille Herron is doing what she does best this weekend. 48 hour race, aiming for Americans men's record of 262 miles. She's done 110 in almost 19 hours so far.

Chris_ Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Good display of shoe brands in this race. It's not the usual Nike show. This is going to be a cracker finish

Stretch Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 What was the drama?Eluid Kipchoge came in 7th or 8th... Well off the mark. He says he had a blocked ear from 25km which is going to mess with you balance. Classic symptom of not aclimatising from high altitude to low altitude
