Not sure whether this is the best idea or not...

I set up a Strava club (for those who are on it of course) so we can gauge whose wheels are the ones to sit on...

And just wanted to get an idea of what different abilities we are dealing with before race day.

I'll join the club but as I said before Sub 3 is not on for me this year.

Has your training companion been a bit slack ?

He is strong as a ligor.

I injured my back sometime before winter and are still on my way to recovery.

So collected my mtb pack today and drove down that first climb out of riversands. Called Mbendi climb on strava. Didn't realise how long it is and comes in at 4.2%. Not too steep but legs are cold

Pooks hill as well as the finish climb in riversands have a steady head wind on a good day.

...and you still rode those numbers for last week...we all need to be so injured ;) :P

Take a close look Lurch. It was slow.

For more detail on my slowness look at the activity on sunday 1 November.

That will put it in perspective for you.

Still not too *** considering a 7th overall and two personal records ;)

Ok, I accept you can go a lot quicker than that, but to quote somebody...I'm  putting "it in perspective for you" ;)

To the stronger riders who have decided to join the I-Team, my sincere hope is that the plan remains that we're doing this to help others achieve their goals. And maybe only for a few that means anywhere close to a sub 3. For others in the team, just breaking sub 3h15 would be a great achievement. My expectation is that any stronger rider dropping back from earlier batches is doing it for the same reasons - offering their services to the team, to get more of a kick out of seeing teammates beat their PBs than their own times. We are not going to be faster than the front bunches of those earlier batches. To be clear, we will be slower. Anyone still wanting to ride for their own time should perhaps stick to their original early batch. For me, this I-Team project was always about something bigger than the individual. I hope everyone feels the same way.

im not a strong cyclist at all, last year i did a double lapper of the race, first lap 3:12 went out way too hard and was blown already by the time i got off the m1, rode 70% of the race alone or in front of whatever group i could form and yet still manged to do the section from top of witkoppen to the end in 43.59 trust me i was dead by then really had nothing left, so i reckon riding a bunch from start and having a bunch in that last segment is very doable in +-40min. second lap was alone entire way and did that same section in 56:12 this with 160km already in the legs. guys we can do this if we ride smart and work together. the segment gerald made on strava is 947 20Km to go.
