Did anyone use the split time calculator?

Did it help, and more importantly... can it be improved?

I planned our ride on the 3:00 time, and we ended between 2:48 and 2:53. I also used the virtual partner on my Garmin, and while it showed we were behind for a large part of the ride, I kept faith with the data and it seems to have worked out well. My time was 2:49 (ride time) vs Racetec's 2:50 (took us 1:14 to cross the start).

Below is the comparison between the original 2:50 time I posted before and our small group's time.

The absolute perfect training route would be Suikerbosrand. Imagine if everyone knew there will be a group training ride at 6:30 every first Saturday of the month (for example).

Yes true. No traffic. Awesome hill training and descending. Nice and accessible.

I'd be keen on this on any Sunday.

Unfortunately Saturday i work from 9am..

I will be keen for this, but unfortunately it will only have to be in 2016 (even as early as the 3rd Jan...haha)

Now you're talking...

Living and riding in Alberton (and surrounds) gives us the opportunity to ride there and back. Shortest route there and back is 125km and can go up to 145Km depending on the route.

Might be too much for some, but there is also a start point at the Circus, in the back full lap and out the back = 88Km. A nice warm up before hitting the climbs, and a nice gradual descent back the Circus.

The split time was accurate up to the M1 ... or rather according To Firoz it was , I started cramping so my timing is of zero value unfortunately. At least your ride data from this year will be valuble for next year.

Just looked at the last 20km segment .. I shaved 15 mins off my time over that segment and I'm still the slowest (tears) .. gutted , but giggling. So more training for sure . Damn you guys put in some good rides

Kudo's Again !

I used it. Must thank you for all your time and effort putting this together.

Used the sub 3 hour time markers and was according to goal just past the zoo. From there I just kept losing time all the way home even though I thought I felt still strong. Cramped the last 5km, but still felt good. Finished a missable 3;21. My ride however was a solo TT from start to finish from group F.

Used the sub 3 one. We were behind for a large portion of the time in the beginning as we tried to group everyone together. Coming up the M1 we made up time and by the Carr Street split we were bang on the money give or take 5sec.

I unfortunately lost the group past the zoo, but seen as Monkey on a Bianchi came in 3:02 I think your efforts with the calculations was pretty damn close, Thank you!

As for that last 20km segment on strava, I only shaved 4min off last year doing it in 46min on a solo ride. So our earlier predictions of needing to do 40min for that is very much a realistic one if a group remained together up until then and even further.

What is that last 20km strava segment called?

this is exactly what riaz who rode with i team at the race decided we would do, choose one day per month and make that the suikerbos day. circus would be great place to meet you would get exactly 86km, or even better we start maybe at panorama or somewhere further which will be closer for the jhb guys. lets agree on a specific weekend every month at least two of us definately on for this.
