I'm sure that initial 25% (If you have the Healthy gear card and have done the fitness assessment) is not 25% of the purchase price of the shoes. My 25% is on a maximum of R2000, so at max, i get R500 back. I looked into this when purchasing my Forerunner 735XT.

And even then, i don't know how many times one can get 25% off of how many R2k purchases. ie, I'm not too clued up on how the billing cycle works.

It depends if you're on a single or family (2 or more adults) on Healthy Gear.

  • For a single person, the limit is R2000 per month.
  • For a family, the limit is R4000 per month.

So technically, the 10/15/25% cash back is on the value of the purchases in the month up to R4000 (one transaction or multiple), if a family like me.

I got R600 (15% of R4000) for the purchase of my FR 735XT last year.

I found out last year that both members have to do the fitness assessment to qualify for the 25%, otherwise if one or none do it then 15% applies.

I must say that for the first time I felt I got something from Vitality for what felt like nothing yesterday - a free massage at the Discovery Duathlon followed by chocolate milks, Wraps and bananas in the Vitality Tent afterwards.  Yea I guess I probably did pay for them somewhere, but it did feel like it was a genuine benefit yesterday.

Now if Discovery would just link the results, I might even get more than the 300 points I got for the "higher points awarded for the day"

Submit your result via their webpage, you should do that for all events entered.... irrespective of whether they say it is linked.  Then you will get the max points for an event entered.

LOL. Listening in to the meeting between Vit specialist & my director discussing "the ethos of Vitality" wrt the changes and how it affects our ability to market the product.

LOL. Trying so hard. But not winning, 'cos he (the "specialist") is trying to invoke emotion. When we've analysed it endlessly ourselves.

Preaching to the converted?

No. I don't like the changes, nor does my director. They remove the certainty that was there in terms of the product not becoming too expensive, that weren't there 2 years ago, and replaced it with more product complexity. We're now increasingly looking elsewhere for cover when the client isn't a "vitality client". Up until last year, if you managed Vitality, you were golden. Regardless of health claims etc. Now - not so.

Said "specialist" is trying to convince us through emotive means that it's not the case, and they are still the best in *all* situations.

Keen to learn more about the bit you added in... assuming you're referring to the policies without Vitality linked?

On a side note:

Have you heard anything from Momentum, about some or other game changer, possibly to be launched mid-year?

The consultant that attends to a few people at the office couldn't say what it was, as the Momentum "specialist" was tight-lipped about it. He (consultant) thinks it could be a loop hole in how medical savings is handled - separated from hospital plan, and thereby reducing the amount medicals aids have to keep in reserve. Like I said, it was his gut-feel, and could be way off.

doesn't affect existing policy holders, but it's those newer policy holders who have Vitality & med aid. Essentially medical claims are now linked to cover increases and premium increases instead of just premium increases. Therefore if you have bad claims, your cover will increase slower and your premium will increase faster, whereas those with policies issued before the changes your premium would have increased faster but so would your benefits. So there wasn't that much of an issue as if you'd been a Diamond vit member your policy cover increases would have been ~ 1.07% higher than if you were a Silver member.

Now there is, potentially...

As for Momentum - nope. Not yet. And they're generally VERY tight-lipped about things, though their last excitement was around the med aid increases which were "so much better" than the rest of the market... and they ended up being - yes - exaaaactly the same as the rest of the market.

So take it with a pinch of salt.

Okay, I am most likely looking into my own eyelids.

I am trying to activate the Show booster benefit. Then it comes to the payment. It pops you into the Disco website then, asking me to pay via "Shoe booster pay now" option/page... Only problem is, I do not find that page!

Where the heck is it? See plenty of you have activated, so it should be doable... Can somebody just please tell me where the option is? I presume it cannot be out of band on the laptop, where it would be easier to spot than on the tiny phone screen! Please help...

That part I did, but then you get to step 2, where you have to pay... Then it throws you into the website (on the phone) to pay after accepting T&C's and then I can't find that page (the "Shoe booster pay now" page) once I've signed on.
