On 702 this afternoon, they touched on this study, which backs up Myles' point about Discovery targeting a market (whose fitness is) lower than many of us fitter types.

http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/2016/09/08/Most-South-Africans-are-physically-unfit%E2%80%9A-study-reveals

Most South Africans are physically unfit‚ study reveals

"In 2008‚ about 14% of South African adults reported exercising at least three times a week. And this number dropped marginally to 13% in 2012‚” the study says.

“South Africans who report that they never exercise are unlikely to start exercising in the future. About 82% of those who reported never exercising in 2008‚ continued to remain inactive in 2012.”

According to the NIDS‚ many of the most active South Africans became inactive over time.

“Half of the people‚ who reported exercising more than three times a week in 2008‚ reported that they never exercised in 2012.”

Those who do not exercise run a risk of becoming ill and medical aid coverage becomes an important security net for some of them when they become ill. Those who do not have medical aid coverage are subjected to paying large sums of money from their own pockets.

“In 2008 and 2012‚ only about 16% of adults and 12% of children were covered by medical aid. And there are very large disparities in coverage between race groups.

“Only about 10% of African adults were covered by medical aid in 2012 compared to 63% of white adults.

“And only 8% of African children were covered in 2012 compared to 61% of white children. Children are especially vulnerable to losing their medical safety net. About 34% lost their coverage between 2008 and 2012‚ compared to about 26% for adult South Africans.”

The NIDS is the first national household panel study in South Africa. The aim of the NIDS is to provide empirical data on the changing socio-economic dynamics of South African society.

The study started surveyed 28‚000 people who were tracked every two years from 2008 to 2015.

---------

Unfit, over weight, and unhealthy as a result, all fueled by a number of factors, some of which spring to mind:

Fast food - to lazy to make food;

Escalators - much easier than climbing a flight of stairs;

Processed foods - high populations levels drive this;

TV - couch potato should say enough.

It seems the "given" is 30 mins per day, for up to 5 days is the minimum required. How hard can that be?

Please keep us posted on how the system works for you. I need to book flight down to CPT, but would rather make sure the Vitality Free Flight bugs are sorted before buying.

So as it turns out my Wahoo activities don't sync with VAR via GC any longer. It is ridiculous. The workout data is there, it's been done, but because it's not on a supported platform it gets ignored.

Edit: Has anyone managed to get Zwift activities synced and scored?

True. Was waiting until the flights rewards become active, because saving 100% on a big price is better than saving 35% on the smaller price. There is probably no reason to delay any longer now that it is launched, seeing that it gives me more weeks to achieve the targets and bank the savings.

you may have to log a call or complaint every few weeks, like we have been doing from the start of this active rewards change, but end of the day you will still get the savings.

Some important points to remember for the Flights booster:

-If you book your flight before you activate Vitality Active Rewards, you will not be able to boost that flight

-You can only activate Flight Booster for one flight at a time and for a limit of two flight bookings per calendar year.

-You must earn a minimum of six Vitality Active Rewards goals in order to unlock the Flight Booster. Once you have earned six goals, you will already have earned 30% off the base fare over and above your upfront Travel benefit discount based on your Vitality status

-Cash backs will be paid on your billing date, at least six weeks after the departure date of the last flight on your booking

Full terms can be found here:
