What does bikehub-land think of the All Mountain Hardtail?

Not trying to derail the OPs original topic, but here goes. The whole 'plus wheelsize' scene has caught my interest, and I have been toying with the idea of building myself a long travel steel hardtail that can accommodate 27.5 plus tyres as a play bike.

What are the frame options out there that can work? Maybe a few options that can be sourced with reasonable ease in SA?

Check out my Niner ROS 9 above. That will take 27.5 Plus tires. It would make a great bike.

So what would be a realistic price for building one of these, even in 26 format. Thus, what's the cheapest way in getting one, even if it's a steel build

Can build one for less than R12K if you shop around and get some good second hand parts

New, you're probably in for about R20k at current prices.

All things considered I'd actually prefer a long travel hardtail trail bike. A HT is so much fun for skills development and since I seldom head out for a trail ride of more than 2hrs a HT won't beat me so much that it stops being fun.

Think I've just convinced myself

@ Seadog

Been perving the entire day...nice bike you have there. But I am looking to do my first build myself, so looking for a frame and collecting parts based on what I end up with

Busy drooling over a Ventana Wolfram Pinion at the moment... Looking at the P1.18 option.

....enough spacers under on on top of that stem !?!?!?

In anticipation of Tokai trails reopening I have ordered this:

Has been on sale on CRC for a few months and I have repeatedly been adding and removing it from my shopping cart. In a moment of weakness yesterday I entered my credit card details and now it is on it's way to SA!

Going to build it up with parts I have at home (Fox Talus 34 140 mm, Mavic Crossrides and SLX 1 x 10 Groupset) so the total build cost  should come in  under R7000.

Hope it's going to be as much fun as I am anticipating. I am hoping it is going to be my go to bike for fun 2 hour rides in the Tokai single track. The big wheeled DS  plastic bike is going to be left for the long marathon type riding.

Noice!

AM HT's are so much fun; maybe not always as fast as an equivalent DS, but who cares?

Remember to post pics when she's all buit up.

I actually considered asking you if I could take your 45650B for a ride to check the sizing.

I already have an Inbred SS and thought a change from OnOne would be good. I really wanted the Ritchey Timber Wolf - the orange frame looks amazing but it's much more expensive.
