Look in all fairness I would also scream at her....."heyyyyyyee haaaaawtstuff"

Okay, I get it now. The dick who pushed her was actually mad at her for dissing him earlier when he tried to invite her for coffee...cause really, you gotta be either very stupid or very gay to want to push her off a bike.

I have been following these developments with some interest.

Yes, I am a CL member, albeit I have not ridden in the cradle for quite some time.

My initial reaction was one of disappointment.

Now the cynic is in me is starting to arch an eyebrow. I have *never* witnessed this form of behaviour from fellow cyclists in the Cradle whether they are riding in CL colours or not.

The CL team are a good, diverse bunch - in such a scenario I cannot comprehend that a) one or two of the bunch would not tell the offender to pull his head in; and b) stop to see if the rider subjected to the verbal and physical abuse was OK and to offer apologies.

I'm no cyber-Sherlock but a quick search for Annie Kurzewski suggests she has no cyber footprint...

Surely, if this did happen there would be cyclists - CL members and non-members willing to come forward and give their version of events?

Or perhaps this was penned by a rather rotund, khaki wearing gentleman who drives a 79?

Prepared to fall on my sword - or keyboard -  if this is 100% legit but something just doesn't gel with me...

Perhaps I am hoping that despite recent events the goodwill and camaraderie in the cycling community is alive and well. I certainly hope so.

Maybe check the facts and read the reponses by them before getting all threaty again..

Here is the post and their reponses.

Annie Kurzewski‎ to Cycle Lab

I would just like to warn other cyclists riding in the cradle about the cycle lab pelotons. Yesterday was the second time I have been screamed vulgar words at by the front rider of the group and physically pushed off my bike whilst riding to the left of the yellow line, out of the way of passing cyclists. The group will approach a cyclist in front of them, scream at them to move out of the way and then physically push the cyclists out of the way with their hands as they pass. I have also witnessed this same group screaming at cyclists to move at the caves stop whilst they try to pass through. This is completely unacceptable behavior and I would just like to warn others to be aware of this, as at high speeds a fall can result in injury.

There are many different levels of cyclists riding in the cradle, but this gives your pelotons absolutely no right to behave like this.

We have enough to worry about with vehicles hitting other cyclists on road and now we have to worry about fellow cyclists endangering one another. This is not on.

As one of the leading cycling brands in South Africa this is not the type of behavior I would imagine you are wanting to portray for your brand.

yup, it seems they conveniently forgot to mention that small detail. But most roadies (on this forum) would rather attack someone who dares to call out such cowardice.

which re-iterates my original statement. Pushing me is one thing, but o boy, woe to the dumbass who pushes a lady and I see it.

+1000

Woe to the coward who strikes a woman. Ek moer hom. Bad enough that road riders give ourselves a bad name but shoving women is not on,

You're probably right, but still no footprint... which is kinda weird for someone who purportedly has 700+ friends.

Would have thought the Facebook account alone would have popped up...?

Keep in mind that Facebook accounts have been hacked or made up - I see there is some speculation floating over the legitimacy of several Facebook accounts that have been linked to recent racial outbursts.

So probably legit, like I say, I will leave the cyber-sleuthing for those who are either good at it or have time on their hands. But I would like to see one more party verifying the record of the incident before the pitchforks and fires come out...

Did any of the CL guys came forward and give their version of the events.

I honestly find it difficult to believe that a cyclist will deliberately push another cyclist of the road, especially if it is a women.

In the area I ride in- Pta East- there are a number of clubs/ groups and we have never experience anything even remotely to this. When the guys came past, it is always friendly greetings.

Maybe it's a Joburg thing

What I do not follow is that CL gave this PR spin yesterday, still there is no detail as to who was the riders doing the pushing? Did they apologize or did CL?

I'm a newbi, but if other cyclist get treated like this, shame what about the other road users...koes en duck. No wonder other road users get gat**ol in the Cradle.

I drove through the Cradle Saturday mid-morning (no lab riders at all!). The place was a complete shambles. It looked like there was a massive infestation of cyclists.

I can understand why other road users get upset with cyclist after having experienced the last panic training session before the world fun ride champs

Couple of valid points raised here.

1. Agree with those who call BS, maybe someone who got passed had their spirits broken and an accidental touch from passing close turned into a shove in their mind

2. Anyone that shoves a lady is a ****.

3. Everyone these days are far too concerned with been PC.

One more thought surely a CL bunch would have enough riders that someone with in the group would have seen the alleged shove/push taking place, and I have enough faith in humanity to have to believe the group would have dealt with such an individual in the appropriate manner. Just my 2c.

Cycle Lab need to address the bullies in the bunches. I was out there Saturday and probably the 3rd or 4th cycle lab group came past. I was minding my own business in the yellow line and some asshole tried to push me off the road twice. Giving me some story about how I should drop back behind the group. The cradle and the cycle lane is for everyone you asshole. Idiots like you give the whole group a bad name.

I have noticed that often cyclists in the cradle will try to push their way into passing bunches rather than joining from the back. Others will just increase their speed a bit and sit on the inside, not trying to join the bunch but also not allowing the bunch to return to riding two abreast in the yellow lane.

Obviously it's a public road and you are entitled to change or maintain your pace at any given time, but maybe appreciate that the request would have been from a safety perspective and not to bully you.
