Is yelling "track" a jhb thing?

I havent heard that phrase in cape town.

That may because Capetonians refuse to speak to one another, even when on mtb's?

What this thread has highlighted is that most people can't seem to read between the lines to get the point...

OP was not asking for someone to move over in his point 1. He was asking people to stop behaving like a box when he gets creative to get past someone on a piece of ST.

No hypocrisy then when he says that he holds his own line in point 2 so that when someone faster approaches they need to use their overtaking skills to get by!

Single Track in mass MTB events is the biggest anti-climax ever. You will always get the super lean fitness freaks climbing as fast as they can so that they're seeing stars when they hit the downhill and then descend like they've all just received their pensioners cards!

IF you enjoy ripping a piece of downhill single track, for the love of everything with wheels, look up your local enduro scene and leave these mass events to be what they will always default to, a mass sufferfest that has too much congestion with an all out start to finish race format to truly make all of the trails enjoyable.

Hooray, at last. Someone who sees what I was saying.

What I had in the back of my mind is how much i enjoy ripping the spruit up on my own. Now because i entered last year I have a JUMA entry again this year. But why would i put myself through the purgatory of doing all the stuff I love at a snail's pace because I don't have a seeding index? I can ride it on my own the following weekend and do 80% of it at my speed and not worry. And not have to try and overtake half the field on the fun stuff because i can ride technically a bit better than them.

And yes i am on the edge of getting back in to longer travel enduro riding. Just dont like the injuries when you buy a piece of the farm....

Capetonians only shout that once they have given the land back.

Wasn't this land reform the subject of that ou liedjie 'Vat jou goed en track, Track, TRACK'? Although maybe I am wrong again.

I think I'm a bit like the OP at the Sabie Classic this year all and sundry passed me on the Mamba Switchback climb. It takes me forever to complete the climb up to the hut but I knew that once we hit the downhills I could make up a bit of time. I generally don't ask for track unless the rider is walking and I seldom have issues with other riders. Whether they have issues with me I wouldn't know!

Why are those okes walking on the downhill? Or is it steeper than it looks in the video?

Just because. Why ride down the hill when you can walk down them.

Us Ferreiras just can't take a hint, hey. Or as us Wp okes say "treck, treck" pointing at Lance's bike

LOVE that sort of terrain. Testing your reflexes all the time. 2 wheel drift school!

Yip the flat shale rocks do promote 2 wheel drifts more often than not and your only recourse is to keep up the momentum. That Rocky Horror section is one of those sections where you either ride it or you walk it, you cannot inch your way down as any attempt at braking leads to your wheel sliding out. There's no shame in walking that section if you can't keep the momentum.

Crickey, I was there a month a go and it was way worse, at least now there was the benefit of a slight track. I think my teeth are still rattling from that descent!

I have ridden that section at least a dozen times and you never feel that you have total control.
