post-37824-0-63354800-1546941150_thumb.jpgThat's the basic route, but on the way back (arrow in attached image) you don't turn right straight back to the parking. The correct route carries on straight - as per the road on your map.

Does not look right. Don't worry too much. Climb at the start . At the top a T junction . Go left. You are now on a dual road . Traffic both ways. Over a steepish hill, there's a turnoff to your left. Go left again . After many climbs you will get to the south gate . Carry on . More hills , a deep valley and then THE climb. Now you have done the big loop . Keep going you are back on the dual road. Keep on straight.  Go past the place where you made the first left turn . You are now on the smaller loop. Big downhill , small climb , t junction , turn right and you're back in the car park.

I'm still in December mode. I hope this makes sense .

Edit: Hoekvlag did it the easy way while I was typing. Straight at the arrow.

Thanks Dirkitech, is this basically the route:

Almost exactly, but I should've clarified that the keep left applies to coming back as well. My first time there I almost went down the starting climb, but recognised the road in time and turned around knowing I'm going the wrong way. Like Hoekvlag mentions, just before reaching the same gruesome starting climb, there is a split where you keep left again, so you actually reach the start point from the behind, making a closed loop. It is a lovely and gruesome ride, remember to lig voete for those poffies!

Road bike, compact Crank, 11-26 cassette.

I find I'm 15 - 20 min slower on my Steel MTB (2x10) vs Road bike around SBR.

Did the double a while ago on the MTB for Ass comfort reasons...

Gearing on the MTB is actually easier for the hills! Heavier weight of the MTB, a disadvantage going up!

Where you lose time is on the fast downs and flats where you run out of gearing.

Good day All, is there some way of getting the people to fix their toilets? the week-end I took my wife there and needless to say - ZERO working toilets, I will try and start something on e-mail and post the e-mail address here.

Dexter,

I hear you!

Luckily my wife had a chat with one of the security ladies and they allowed us to use the facilities at the museum (bottom of the car park). Worth while remembering for next time.

I remember going to SBR somewhere around 2014 where there was no water either and they didn't charge us an entry fee that day. Sounds like they've changed their stance and are charging entry even when there is no service delivery?
