Just announcing a new bike trail at the top of Wynberg Hill just North of the M3 that we have created with the blessing of the local Councillor and City Parks.

To get to the start enter the parking area at the junction of Upper Bebington Avenue and Monterey Avenue and immediately turn right along the cut grass trail. It is designed to be ridden anti-clockwise. You can also access it via the M3 underpass from Wynberg Park.

Much of the trail follows a mowed grass trail and will be much improved the more it is ridden and when we build out a few berms so please help ride it in before the grass grows back!

This initial loop is 1.6km long. We plan to later extend it to around 3.5km in total.

Have fun and please give way to walkers or we might get kicked off.

Nice, Its lovely. Thanks Greg! I ride down that section of open space quite a bit and was pleasantly surprised to find the new trail yesterday afternoon!

I messed around on some of it and also watched a kid come down. Unfortunately he went OTB on the down side of one of the three big whoops ( not sure what else to call them) on the right if you looking down the slope near the top. I think he tagged the same sniper stump that sent me OTB there a few weeks ago. Its a real front wheel grabber if you go slightly off line.  I am planning on taking a saw up there but if you guys are busy please cut or dig it out. There are a few other snipers I noticed yesterday too. The last thing we need is a serious injury on what is going to be a great addition to the southern burbs.

Shot, will be there soon.

A warning, if you decide to bomb down that slope towards the M3 bridge, be advised that there's a brick culvert that blocks two thirds of the grass strip as it narrows near the waterworks.

Naturally, this brick culvert is nicely hidden by the long grass. My skid marks might still be visible though..

Keep left and you'll be fine.

I've ridden the trail back in after it pretty much disappeared through lockdown. Even built up a few little berms to help to hold some speed on key corners. They are only narrow though so precise riding required to rail them. It's riding quite nice in the damp conditions. Would be excellent if some trail builders clay was used before it gets dry and loose. It is still a hard work 10 minute lap but ideal for a quick 1hr blast
