What another milestone of a performance for Louis Meintjies [emoji1221][emoji1221][emoji1221]

Does he continue with his team into 2018?

Well seeing as his team hardly helped him at all in 2017, I hope not. They just happened to be in the same shite kit.

Winnings from TDF, I know it's not the only cash they get, but I wonder if you work out ROI for teams on winning alone, some would have negative ROI.

My uninformed unapologetic fanboy notes:

1.Froome is pure class. Arguably the best rider of his generation.

2. Meintjies is a superstar. Wow.

3. The DQ of Sagan was a travesty. He is also pure class.

4. I can't stand Aru. It's irrational, its unfair, but there it is. But ya, boy he is talented. But he is an ape.

5. I can't mourn the decline of Contador. I don't like him either.

6. Impey is flippin unbelievable. I really wanted his break to go to the line today. Anyway, he made South Africa proud especially yesterday.

7. Bouhani is pure drek. I am glad he did not win a stage.

8. Lance's stages podcasts were brilliant. He should be allowed to come out of the cycling wilderness. I would like to see him in the commentary box.

9. No tour tomorrow. Sucks.

I just wanted to say...

Thats 4 TDF wins for Froome.

Call me a fanboy or whatever. skybots or whatever - 4 wins is 4 wins. He still beat them all and this year was definately not boring.

Well done - think the Queen owes him something.

Go Froomey!!!cant wait for next year!!!

on a second note:

Rider of the tour as most impressive:

Rigoberto Uran

The Aussie commentators said during the prize giving ceremony that the 4 winners of the classification jerseys represent Africa, France, Australia and Great Britain ( Yates).

Maybe the Queen also don't think Chris is a dinkum Pom

amen... oh and Kittel is not human and should be held to a higher standard... needs a watts limiter fitted to his bike just to make it fair

You can't mention stolen goods awarded by a nationalist racist c*nts jury

That's not going to stop team from sipping the bubbly made by that same nation.

GT team of the year, so far, is Team Sunweb - even though a few key riders were missing during, and at the end of, the Tour.

The quest for podium positions made the Tour almost as entertaining as the Giro.

Next year will be even more difficult for CF.

Looking forward to a few good transfers come 1 Aug.

27 days till the Vuelta.

I enjoyed the Tour and I'm happy my guy won :-)

For me it was also a sad affair though. Valverde, Sagan and Cav out early. G and Porte out shortly after. NQ and Bertie were a big disappointment. Bertie showed flashes of former greatness but, inevitably, time marches on and he's not the rider he was. I always liked him for lighting up the climbs but the whole "Steak" affair was very disappointing.

It goes without saying that the tour "jury" aka "escaped circus clowns" were a joke.

On the positive side . . . .

LM was impressive, not aggressive enough maybe but impressive none the less. He was often in the company of or in front of, some very high caliber riders.

Dan Martin deserves a mention for his tenacity.

Several other riders did themselves proud and we saw some excellent finishes. There's some good little riders coming through - something to look forward to :-)

Tomorrow I might actually have to ride my own bike for a change . . . .

I dunno..I was super impressed with Dan Martin.. Take away that head over heels with Porte and he would have been contending a podium... Continuously tried to attack too. He put everything into this tour

Where was Bernard Hinault this year?

Hinault had announced last year that he was retiring as Ambassador for ASO; the position apparently to be filled by Stephen Roche. Don't recall seeing much of Roche during the tour this year. Maybe a change to more of a back office role?

Thanks Sean.

One can't but help to wonder why Louis is signing to teams that clearly can't back him. First Lampre then UAE. He needs team riders that can stay with him, some senior guys guiding him (not that he is a novice - just to get him into the right places at the right time).

He is impressive and his talent must surely be recognized by some bigger teams?

Another thing... there is just no coverage in our SA press about DI or LM. Seems the public are oblivious as to the magnitude of their efforts and results.

(Disclaimer... I am not a roady, I do not understand the finer nuances of road racing...)

Louis will be on a Cervelo next year with Rotor cranks. Not sure which riders they will sign to support him though. Serge would be a good right hand man, maybe Daniel as well. But will they drop their sprint train?
