Google - Rasmussen Tour de France TT disaster

Michael "the chicken" Rasmussen and the TT of 2005. I was there on the day, half way around the course in St Etienne. It was a disaster of epic proportions! I felt sorry for the guy :-(

Where was Bernard Hinault this year?

Hinault had announced last year that he was retiring as Ambassador for ASO; the position apparently to be filled by Stephen Roche. Don't recall seeing much of Roche during the tour this year. Maybe a change to more of a back office role?

Amazing ride by Meintjes..same time as Yates and holding off a storming Conto!!Small improvements needed, more rounded performance bit more support and the right route and I believe podium is achievable!

Impey killed it yesterday!!By miles the best TT performance by a SA rider for many years!

Now just for Reinie to give the perfect lead out today and then I am happy!

OK, so I was thinking... Have there been any performances at this Tour that made us stand up and go 'Whooah, that is very abnormally awesome?'. It seems to me that most of the main players actually had more negative surprises than weird positive turnarounds. Are we at a point where we can look to there being limited dodgy chemical motor input?

(The person who I think has had the most' out there' performance is de Gendt. Pulling on the front of the peleton like a beast and tons of breakaways.)

Fixed!

From Wikipedia:"In 2005, Lance Armstrong had a comfortable lead in the general classification, but behind him Alexander Vinokourov and Levi Leipheimer were only two seconds apart, on fifth and sixth place. Vinokourov succeeded in a breakaway during the last kilometre and, because of his stage win and bonus seconds, overtook Leipheimer for fifth position overall"

So it has happened before and can happen again... Landa can actually "steal" a podium place today...

If I was him I would definitely try something, with only 1 second difference, very tempting... would Sky go for it though...

I doubt sky would go for it... all part of the unwritten rules ??

Bardet fought hard for his spot, and no reason why he shouldn't be on the podium.
