Guys, who would you say is the new "Jens Voigt" in the modern peloton?

Tim Wellens?

Thomas De Gent for me but Tim Wellens is a close second

What a boss, rode the whole peleton off his wheel. Whoopsie... #Sorry #NotSorry

Definitely... and that on stage 1 and goes into pink - never a bad thing...

I've always liked Phil and his funny sayings & comments. It's sad if he is starting to get confused but I guess it comes to us all. My gran had 6 grandchildren all together and we consistently got called the wrong names by her :-)

I often chatted to Phil at races in SA. These were taken at the 94.7 55km MTB Race in 2010 and the 94.7 Twitter Ride in 2012.

Speaking of Bora I am quite excited to see what Buchman will get up to..he rode a brilliant Dauphine wrapping up the white jersey. .

I am pleasantly surprised by that achievement.

Looking forward to Bora chasing quite a few jerseys.

Yup, about 5 pages back, we all agreed its a good thing and that he will only notice in August that he is not commentating.

Bring on Cosmo Catalano!

Yeah its for the best, he has been a bit dithery for a while. I will still miss his voice on them though and him getting names mixed up.

For those that like numbers and figures:

Here are the twitter stats for the 2016 edition, as with everything social media, will be surpassed this year I am sure!

I thought with Groot Lem on twitter, SA would be way up there on TDF traffic! :P

(Strange twitter didn't pick my tweet of Chris Froome as forrest gump as the top tweet)

Am guessing the relationship between twitter and countries % is more down to techno ability/savvy and availability.  With France being more rural and not as techno switched on as USA and UK... perhaps somewhat surprising that is not talked about more than 6% considering it is in their own back yard and must be all over the papers and TV?

Not really, Giro and Vuelta the largest follwings are Spain, then Italy, then France and then UK, then Canada.

“I feel very good and with more confidence than last year. Last year before the Dauphiné I worked very hard and when I arrived here I won the first time trial but I remember that I finished the race very tired. This year I’ve gone easier on the climbs, I’m fresh and will finish with good legs. The watts are perfect. It’s better than last year.”

And to think that the Cav tweet was BS.

We spoke to some of his sponsors when we were there, and they told us that he was going to pull out. "one of the hardest decisions" PAH!
