Patchelicious Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Ja after watching this..... https://twitter.com/naesenb/status/882291565208768512
Christie Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Agree with comments that the elbow did not cause the crash.Top view looks like Cav was on the wheel and Sagan pushed into the small gap caused by Demare's acceleration. Cav did not give up the wheel by braking, ended up against the barrier....but the elbow does not look not defensive, plus elbowing Greipel earlier did not help his case - that and not being French, probably.
Mamil Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 I don't know anything about how such a sprint should work and what's sportmanlike and what isn't but this chap seems to me to be making sense https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvaszAfJyPg Looks like two sprinters jostling for positionCan't see any foul play there (sadly)
Gen Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 So basically Cav bounced off Sagan ????Ja after watching this..... https://twitter.com/naesenb/status/882291565208768512Ja also look here.. when the elbow comes out.. look at his left leg..also out trying to balance. Take a look at @Laura_Meseguer's Tweet: https://twitter.com/Laura_Meseguer/status/882300130686377985?s=09 Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Bianchisti Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Point is in a sprint you keep your line...no drifting or closing gaps or bull**** like that you KEEP your LINE!If Sagan was drifting same could be said for all of them. That would have been the line I would've been taking if I was looking to come around the rider in front. As Cav was also doing. Road was just not wide enough.
shaper Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Jury has made its decision... no matter how many opposing conjecture one can find.... decision is made and final!
Riamich Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Yea another day at the office for the guys...This pic shows clear that Cav was already off balance before the elbow.

Look in that video at the lines of Sagan and Cavendish. Cavendish is trying to go parallel to the barriers, Sagan is coming across him. Sagan's momentum coming across is what caused the crash. All we as spectators ever want is consistency from the referees. The president has been set with this decision, now you'd better be willing to do the same if DeMare does the same in the future... And like Gen said, you'd better come down hard on those sticky bottles and rear derailleur adjustments by Astana!

nochain Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Well the race jury better be flippen consistent this year if they plan on applying rules . Sticky bottles, drafting, illigal feedimg etc etc etc.. everyone better get fined sommer on the spot. Sent from my SM-N9005 using TapatalkThink it was a very harsh call by the race to DQ. He clearly was in the wrong but we have seen many crashes like that before.Taking away points for me was fair but this I think is way too much.

Vetplant Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 K, let's try to move this along... The GC top 10 list is still not indicative of what we will see in Paris. EBH up in 4th with Matthews in 3rd, that is definitely going to be be way different after the finish tomorrow afternoon. First indication of what the GC contenders have in their tanks. You probably won't win the Tour tomorrow but you certainly can lose a lot of ground if something goes wrong with no backup around.
coppi Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Not following the tour but I cry mafia BSCav was already falling before sagan's elbow came out. I would argue he was protecting him so that cav didnt take him out as wellThat is my opinion too.......Sags could see from the corner of his eye that Cav was falling and was maybe trying to protect himself?
