Very difficult to do that when you are tired

Even without being tired, I would probably get them wrong anyway

I see Dion Guy is at 570 km now  and in a week from now, he is signed up to start a solo Desert Dash in 2-hours time.  . . . .

Yup, not the type of thing for the feint hearted or weary. Drops 840m in 10km.

That photo brings back crampy memories from the Trans Karoo mtb race...

Not an easy downhill but I'd still rather drop 840m in 10km than climb 840km in 10km at this stage of the race

Wonder why Martin isn't riding.. his turn to see to the kids maybe..[emoji6] in my mind they also take turns [emoji12]

While dotwatching Expedition Africa earlier this year, someone posted a picture of Martin watching the kids while Jeannie was racing

The rules are ambiguous, and let's be honest to not even consider that a female could win line honours is really unfair!

A bad oversight with the benefit of hindsight yes.

But jeez, how many "open" cycling events in the past were won by women? I can't name one?

Perhaps the role of mentor is what he is enjoying most.

I know why he is not riding ....

I'm not. she's probably sitting in the shade during the heat of the day - best time to rest.

Prize money was increased and rules amended. The rules in place at race start determine.

You can only enter the race in one category and thus only win one category. There is no prize money for overall win. Make sense?

got a reply from race office - so jeannie is not actually racing for the win in terms of prizemoney. would be bragging rights to win line honours too, but she's got about a 5 hour lead in the women's cat - so failry comfortable.

prize categories are a bit funny if you ask me., if you apply this year's rules to last year's results, then john ntuli would win the development category, and gran usher would win the mens even though he crossed the line 2nd.

Amy Beth won the Southern Skies 24hours two years ago... beating a certain Alex Harris. He said he just couldn't keep up with her on the single-track. They both clocked 420+kms
