Only a thought but if it was an inside job, the security camera would have been covered first think? But also keep in mind, criminals like that are not the cleverest among humans…

Aaaaaah! but then it would look like an inside job wouldn't it?

There is absolutely no evidence pointing this is done by employees or owners - let's all just drop it.

The store has a double volume roof - so from the camera angle I would guess its pretty high up and not accessible easily in the time given. Thus the need for disguises - balaclavas and gloves...

Surely someone can pull a reflection off the mirror on the oakley stand, Run it through a facial recognition thingie and BOOM we have our thief. Not really that hard, I mean come on now this is 2017.

this is AFRICA in 2017 ..... it go's boom and the thief has our things.

Were they robbed, or burgled?

There is a difference, you know....  :whistling:

Correct, big difference....often confused in SA.

(Robbery is basically theft accompanied by violence or threats of violence against someone)

Ja look I had a burglary and hired a private detective who also did a security assessment. Basically he said that unless you have a contact in SAPS they will do nothing. Tracking phones (in my case) etc etc costs quite a bit and sometimes you need official paperwork. R5 000 doesn't go far. Nothing came out of it; maybe he ripped me off.

Finally, he noted that plenty burglaries are "inside jobs" but not meaning directly by an employee. Information is gleaned from casually befriending employees (wow, what a great place you work at, take some photos for me etc) or security guards, visiting the premises on some legitimate basis and sometimes intimidation of employees.

I seem to remember there was a place in Hillcrest KZN that got burgled twice - the plumbed in "tear gas" system saved them both times.  Bugger to get out of the furniture & fittings though.

Many of us are naive. The parts on the bikes are worth more and are quickly sold off. So becareful in the future, that you might be purchasing some of these stolen parts.

This is South Africa...   The Arrow might be able to help   .    Obvious that the thieves were in the shop before and not their first ''job''. Good detective will catch them

The crime committed was Housebreaking and Theft. "House'' meaning any building and ''breaking'' meaning moving/removing of any part of the structure to gain entry. So they weren't robbed, they were broken into

I've spent a lot of time loitering in bike shops. Also in DIY shops and model airplane shops.

So do I. Doesn't make me a criminal, and that's because I don't have criminal ulterior motives. But these dudes do it to gain information...
