King_Crispy Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Isnt he there already, a society hand picked by the judges.... A penal colony
Falco Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I'd happily take a hacksaw to my handlebars if I could move to the "nanny state". I suspect most saffers on the hub will agree, even though the cool kids won't admit it.

marko35s Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 They have less than 10% of our annual road death toll and you are saying their laws don't help? Does not look like all the nanny state laws help save lives... http://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/2016/12/16/three-dead-in-horror-24-hours-on-nations-roads/ Strange, I thought if people stopped at red lights people would respect cyclists and stop the carnage.

But that's it.Australia's particular brand of culture never really appealed to me. I really should go too. So much family in Sydney.Whenever they're in SA they moan about us not visiting them. But if I ever have the opportunity to go visit.I'd probably choose to go somewhere else...
Patchelicious Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 We are a funny bunch. We all scream that we want stricter rules that need to be enforced. Then we laugh at those who do it. I would gladly sacrifice 20mm on my MTB handle bars in exchange for the law enforcement that they have.

big_mtn Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 So, what's the danger with wide bars on MTB's riding offroad trails, if any?Is this law restricted to public roads perhaps? Just curious.
LongDonkey Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I need my extra 60, or 80 mm cant remember, on my handle bars.I am kinda an outsized guy , now i gotta ride a MTB in Aus that has aero width roadbike bars. Think the Aussies are using it to mess with imports. Australia first........
Ozzie NL Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 "An organisation called Product Safety Australia" The would lose their minds if they came to South Africa! Must be real fun at a dinner party. Are dinner parties ever fun??? Only the braai with couple of frosties variety ticks my box
Dieter ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Fake.....Obviously hahaha... Just a post about the the nannyish state.
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Is this not just a restriction on the sale of new bikes with bars of >700mm? IE they need to come stock with those, but they can be changed out afterwards.
