I can almost hear the fuse burning shorter before the massive BOOM of Hubness raining down on these nay-sayers - Don't be talking bad things about Oom Chris...

Personally, I've found it depends on who is working on the day. Some of the guys are brilliant, some should seriously reconsider any job requiring public interaction. And that counts for other shops too.

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE HERE IS ALMOST AS BAD AS ASKING MYLES ABOUT SKILLZ

I wouldn't make the title "Bad service..." you didnt buy something and technically you didnt get any service at all, which is still shocking to say the least. I would maybe have gone with "Lack of service..."

yes and apparently you are not allowed to inform fellow cyclist of the lowering of standards in service etc in bikeshops or anything related these days. you get crucified for being "that guy" which you definitely are not. Call me old school or whatever you want, but does people not have pride in their jobs or the company that they are representing anymore? It takes nothing out of you to just smile and greet the person firstly and then assist them. It was your choice to apply for the job and take it, so no one forced you to take it or be there! When I did casual work back in school and varsity you didnt get off lightly if customers arent greeted IMMEDIATELY or if you stand with your back towards the entrance while you are not helping someone. I feel like blaming the manager or whoever is in charge for not being able to keep good discipline in a store or whatever the case may be.

I know that everyone loves them, But I am not so impressed.

Last Friday (17 March) The wife and I were in Cape Town and I thought I would pop in as I need a new gatorskin for my back wheel. I manage to convince my wife to go to a restaurant right next door and as we are heading there after a nice morning at the V&A waterfront, I mention popping in at CWC.

So we walk in, 15 minutes of looking at stuff in the shop and trying to catch the eye of an employee and we left without buying anything. The shop was not busy, there were no other customers that I could see. Every time I started heading towards a staff member they suddenly seemed to remember pressing business elsewhere.

Both the wife and I were left with the distinct impression that they must be doing so well after the CTCT sales that they didn't really want to sell any more product this month.Get better service from the tea room on the corner, at least there I get a hello from the staff.

This sounds about right.

How often do people have a good experience and say nothing, but when something bad happens - lets rant on the hub.

By walking out the door without buying anything they lost a sale - punishment enough for not attending to you.

Rants over consistently bad service is understandable, but as a one off, maybe not

This is just outrageous! Don't you know you are supposed to wait until the thread is at least 3 pages long before naming the store.
