So what is everyone aiming for? (assuming reasonable weather..)

This is my second IM, last year was 13:30ish so I'd love to see something with a 12 in front.

Swim - 1:30 odd last year, my training hasn't been much more so 1:20 would be good.

Bike - 6:30 last year which was waaay too easy, I'm aiming for sub 6 now, feeling far more comfortable on the bike this year, but I know a 30 average is going to be tough to keep up.

Run - 5 hours last year, I'll be super happy with the same now. I haven't run longer than 20km since Nov when I was injured for two months so this will be a real test of vasbyt.

+1 - I'll be over the moon with a 12h59:59  :)

Last two days have come down with man flu and every little niggle possible, not sure if its just nerves or what is going on, at the moment all i'm hoping for is to be on the beach with good health and then finish in time. initially my goal was to sacrifice the bike and save the legs as much a possible for a strong run by my low standards 4:40.

LOL, it must be an Alberton thing... this week I've also got aches and pains that I can't explain

My perfect plan is:

Swim 1:15

Bike 6:30

Run 5:30

With transitions sub 13:30

Taper niggles coming out? Hope you get better soon.

Going to be rooting for everyone!

ICM - how are you faring? You have been very quiet lately. Assume you have been accosted by family and friends.

Got the flu again but did ride in cradle today. The altitude zapped my breath I must say. Was a lil tough on the hills. But great to be in cradle again....smooth tar is a blessing.

Time wise realistically I think I am in for 15 hours, training gone poorly since mid feb when I got ill and the weather ain’t helped. Essentially 1:30 swim plus T1, cycle 7 plus T2 which leave me 6:30 for the run and I hate running.

But I do have lots of experience at IM and the PE course so who knows we, mebbe sneak a sub 14. No rush this year.

Dreading the run..damn

Sub 12hr last year, will be looking for similar or better. Finished 25th in age group, so goal is top 20!

But race day is race day and anything can happen, first goal is finishing, everything else is a bonus!

I'm dreading the run as well but what I love most about Ironman is that you can choose the goals that fit you best. The only competition is with yourself  :)

Oi..I struggle with the last 2 weeks in taper.

Similar to 70.3 earlier the year, i get SO many excuses NOT to train. Doing a super taper again. This is purely mental now.

I do have a tired body after Two Oceans, but i did a LSD for Two Oceans, so I am just making excuses to myself.

So with my SUPER taper, I am hoping for a 13hr this year! 2015 - 14h50, 2016 14h04. This year i have the marathon legs as well as cycling, basically doubled my training in the last 4 months compared to 2016.

Holding thumbs for a beautiful day! No planning to tri-bike in 2018 again after IMSA   Looking forward for a 2 year break from Tri's
