Wonderboom: Avg HR 178, Max HR 180, 4m55s, Avg Cadence 70 TJ: Avg HR 179, Max HR 183, 5m19s, Ave Cadence 60 Ran out of legs a bit on TJ because it's pretty similar to Wonderboom but I was quite a bit slower. And yes, compact crank and 11-28 cassette
Frosty Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Great route and an awesome race. Looking forward to this growing into a 10000+ event. Beginnings of something very festive with the handful of spectators, especially on TJ. [emoji51] With a bit of work and some decent additional sponsors, this could easily become a ‘big three’ race. AL was very disciplined. Parking/exit was painless, worlds apart from the Satellite mess. Marshaling was top notch. Only worry is the organisers stating plainly in the chitchat before the start that they want to move the race one week earlier next year so it falls in the city’s ‘mobility month’. AFAIK, Carnival’s date is locked in for 2018 already. No wonder Gerald got sent his random VB entry, without entering [emoji55]I’ll keep quiet about the date change until the facts come out. Francis1 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 For the first event it was fantastic. A great mix and I must say the last 20 km were my highlight . Pedaled up very hill with out a problem. They should have taken us back to behind the central prison, as the climb there is murderous. I am in for the next one.
Frosty Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Analysing this race route little more. Every second race title contains the word "Classic" Very few, if any deserves to add it in. This to me is probably as close as Gauteng can get to a Belgian style CLASSIC race, all because of those stunning but brutal climbs! Again a special thanks to all the people that tried their upmost to make this a safe race!!!The definition of a Classic has nothing to do with the route, but rather the amount of prize money as well as getting exclusivity (500km radius). jcza Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 ASG cops plenty flak here but kudos to them for this event. I think the route needs tweaking here and there (maybe go trough town first and then do N4?) to avoid traffic chaos and improve safety for riders. Hope it becomes a permanent fixture on the race calendar.

So ASG is the sponsor of the Emperor's Classic (50 km away) and the Jock Classic (350 km away). All these events are CSA sanctioned..... Credibility?????????
Job Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Tshwane Classic beta is 0.96...I think its fair but it didn't help me.

Vetplant Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Finished in the Top 20 out of about 900 people that did the 60km route, yet PPA gives me a seeding of 92.7... with a penalty of 15... I think their maths guru is on holiday because something doesnt add up

I think their maths guru is on holiday because something doesnt add up http://www.pedalpower.org.za/how-seeding-is-calculated/ ROAD EVENTS• 80km and over – no climbing requirement, no other penalty; or• 750m of climbing, regardless of distance, no other penalty; or• 60km with 15% penalty (added to your seeding index)– no climbing requirement; or• 400m climbing with 15% penalty, no distance requirement
CatchMeIfYouCan Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I think they are still finalising the seeding as I have strange penalties for all my races. Those penalties aren't normally there. It should be sorted out over the next few days. Most importantly it looks like the beta is 0.96.

segal Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Often the cyclingevents page seeding adds penalties to my index but when I log into it via ppa i get the correct index. Must be a system bug
