"Seen at Ironman Texas, a race participant rode all 112 miles on this fat bike with aero bars at an average speed of 15.5 mph"

High speeds on that road course

Don't enjoy the protruding broomstick feature of MTB bars while being tucked in like sardines at 47 kmh

before everyone gets their knickers in a know about the title, its poking fun; BUT, I do however wonder why the heck should you pay R30 more if you decide to ride a road race on a mtb rather than a road bike....

It is not just mtbers on mtbs in road races that are the problem. Mtbers on roadbikes also make me nervous.  If I see knees and elbows sticking out the sides all over the place I stay the hell away.  Keep it neat and tight or get out the bunch.

I'm loving Knysna Organising Committee more every day.

Not only are they doing the right thing on MTBs in the ROAD race, they are encouraging tandems by discounting the entry fee for the stoker by R120.

And don't worry 'Dale, bars are as narrow as yours are, not that you'll see us on the course unless you wikkel on the climb to Karatara. That is quite a climb on a tandem.

yawn... I have read your posts on the hub one to any times; nitpicking and trying to make a statement is your game.

as you were; go pick a fight on someone else's thread.

Sometimes the best way to disarm individuals like that is to not respond at all.

I have a colleague like that who argues not because you are wrong but because he senses an opportunity for an argument. Took me a while to develop the skill of just telling him that I will not be engaging in this argument.

Does me a world of good to not get involved with his negativity.

You sir, are indeed 100% correct.

You get a nod? Take a closer look at sock length, no true roadie will acknowledge another cyclist, if the socks of said nodder seem Falkey or a bit short, you are probably dealing with an under cover MTBer.

You reckon I am imagining the nod as a result of my need for acknowledgement?

Hmm this psycho analysis stuff is not good for confidence is it now

I'm not going to get into the debate over whether MTB's should be allowed in road races but your response to this of "get a road bike" is a pretty sucky one. Not everyone is as financially sorted as you seem to be. I for one can most certainly not afford to just buy a bike for each discipline I'd like to ride. Should I not be allowed to race and have fun even if it's in a MTB specific category of the road race because you think "it's a dumb thing to do" ?

The mtb mocking should not be taken too seriously, just a little smack talk.????

Ps same for Patch's comments..
