.....but this organisation is bankrupt.? With liabilities exceeding assets by 3 odd million and running annual losses how can they continue to operate?

No commercial company would be allowed to continue to trade under these financial circumstances to protect creditors, surely the same rules apply, with annual losses how can they ever repay their creditors.

And the CEO/GM/whatever would've been fired long ago.

One can only assume that with such lovely liabilities this insurance glitch is only the tip of the iceberg. To be honest I cannot really think what CSA would be spending the money on... Its not like they are supporting any riders or something

Ok so part of the problem is that events are not complying, should the question not be asked "why?" instead of using the threat of non-sanction, when all too often both riders and organisers don't have the value that CSA claim to offer with the presence of a commisaire.

Tell me when a commisaire last did or understood a physical inspection of a route for safety and marking?

It is done at every S.A Cup event.

Um, no, you see, ah... This is a er, emergency meeting to discuss the financial challenges that we are experiencing. We, ahh, cannot discuss these items which are, eh, not on the agenda. These issues need to be discussed at err, a separate meeting for that purpose. We assure you our eh, valued member, that we are dealing with this um, internally.

Right now we must uh, focus on our athletes' safety and focus on getting this insurance reinstated, as the safety and well-being of our athletes is CSA's primary main number one priority. We assure you that we remain committed to cycl... etc.

Where is the rest of this CSA statement that you clearly copied this from..? ;)

Or held accountable.

If there was negligent expenditure with a company resulting in liquidation and financial loss the relevant executive officer can be held responsible. I dont know with regards this kind of operation but I would imagine when there are financial implications to creditors there has to be a level of accountability somewhere.

Some, not every. Definitely not the marathon and a number of other 'sanctioned' events/

Maybe it depends on who is the UCI Commissaire on the day, but a commissaire walked every single km of the course of the events we held. And as you can think for yourself, how are you going to physically inspect a 40 - 70km route for a marathon event, or are you making a joke?

Negligence has to be proven. While this is possible, I doubt very much it has been enforced anywhere.

Shouldn't matter who the commissaire is.

Logically thinking for myself obviously route markers should be accompanied on route marking and/or consulted on the route profile, or at the least check key obstacles/sections.

CSA proclaim that safety is part of sanctioning any event. No joke.

We're deflecting from the point though, and that is that is what is the actual value that CSA bring to an event, on a tangible level. There are more questions than answers.

Nice solution. Cut costs and increase the fees. Brilliant.

The question then: How? Obviously not cutting costs by reduction of salaries. As we have seen it will be more focused on cutting costs via member benefits.

Increase membership fees. So you get less for more. I look forward to this.

Is it even possible to get less of nothing.. suppose CSA will find a way.

Speaking of accounting fraud. I renewed my licence yesterday and paid R200 for it plus R75 for Central GP. My mate just renewed 2hrs ago and paid only R116 plus the R75...We both have our licences valid until this time next year...So why didn't I get a discount or who is fiddling the books?
