What did you use?

just a meal replacement, only until I reached target weight then I went back to normal diet, was mainly used to get rid of that stubborn 1-2kg that just doesnt want drop when it came to race season. Mon-Friday only, breafast only plus the alternative lunch days usually non riding days. Dinner was normal, whatever the wife cooked.

I am actively using all the herbalife products, from the shakes all the way through etc.

The CR7 is like glorified fly pee... useless in my opinion( it ight help if you do a short cardio session or maybe as a slight electrolite replecment for after- I sometimes use it with a rehidrate and that helps)

What you actually need is the Prolong - carb based drink, 4/5 scoops a bottle for those 1+ hr rides.

Prolong etc is an fatastic product and I actively use it while training and have done a 10:40 Ironman with it.

I would normally train with prolong 4/5 scoops per bottle and a small protein bar for every hour, when summer is getting hot I will add a rehidrate to each of those bottles as well. For ironman I double the strength to 8 scoops per bottle+rehidrate(to dilute it with water on course) 1 protein bar per hour and add a gel per hour.

Rebuild endurance and Rebuild strengh as a recovery drink.

If you want more info please feel free to ask me

Herbalife is well known as a scam and they even paid a $200 Million 'admission' fine recently. This is important as any company who puts a product out, purely to run a MLM, rarely will give any consideration to quality. Which will only reduce margin..

You do know that the vast bulk of Herbalife products bought by distributes - for reselling - never leave their garages? The few consumers who actually buy their products contribute an insignificant amount to their bottom line. This is the HL model, bully the distributors to buy more and more product, irrespective if they actually manage to sell them. This business model was a big part of the ruling against them.

On the quality; just pick up a container and see if you can recognize the main ingredients. Most can't even pronounce them. And they're typically high in sugar.

In summary, if you need an electrolytic drink while on the bike, consider coconut water.

Here's a link that's relevant, with sample ingredient lists. Pretty much disease in a bottle.

Fuggit, that tripe on that ancestral-nutrition website is even worse than what's in your average Herbalife container.

My 2c - I used to use the Herbalife mix (I forget the name) they discontinued when they brought out CR7 and found that the previous one was pretty good. The CR7 on the other hand is like watered down cool drink. I would not recommend the CR7 at all.

:)

But an easy place to get the ingredient labels.

I've spent many hours on different HL sites in the past to get the ingredients. Unless they have to listed by law, they're mostly conspicuous in absence.

Anybody riding with this? so a few guys cycling with the shirts.

I want more information than the sales pitch.

Used to use 3 xt pump, gi 32, gu etc.

Yesterdays 78 was i bottle of powerade and 1 bottle of game.

Im not a HerbalLife fan, but used CR7 for African X (birthday present). It did the trick for me. I wont go out and buy it specifically again, but it did what it was meant do. I had continuous good energy levels, without it ever taking a dip. I drank about 2L per 33km trail and by stage 3 was just tired of the taste. Have never cycled with it though.

I'm with you on this.  Any business whose product is secondary to their main aim of fleecing pyramids of sheep is unlikely to be dedicated to producing optimal performance nutrition.  Cost will be everything, and their focus is just wrong.  Why reward scumbags who are trying to rip you off?

Posted

Do you think that products sold via a pyramid scheme are 100% legitimate in their claimed health/performance benefits?

Just the word "herbal" is enough for me to avoid it.

Pharmacies should lose their licenses for selling all the pseudo medications, remedies as well as untested sports nutrition products.

what do you call 'alternative' medicine that works?

Medicine..

I have a demo pack of CR7 that I have not tried yet, I usually use standard rehydrate and food/gu gels.

I won a free 'body assessment' from herbalife which is the reason I will never deal with them again.

They put me on a fancy scale which gives apparent body fat etc, I had come in from the rain and they said I could leave my socks on while on scale. How ressistance changes when you add water and put an insulator on I am sure it has some influence...

They then proceeded to tell me I am at 15% body fat( a caliper test done by a registered physio 6 days earlier gave results of 8% body fat). I then got spammed on whatsapp every morning till I told them to leave me alone and blocked the number.

That is my 2c, it may be an amazing product, I still will not touch it.

When a company tries to convince you that their fundamental elements like calcium are sourced from 'better' sources than other suppliers and then charge double you know they are performing a rectocranial infusion. There are far better, cheaper products out there.

Cool Thanks guys. very interesting to get everyone's opinions here.

Its so easy to just use what you know, but there are so many other products out there.

Thanks for all the feedback. I will not be using CR7 then in the future. But will read again and make a list of things to try.
