Seat Clamp - Single Bolt

I have a Giant dropper with a single-bolt mounting (see pic) for the seat. It is a pain in the arse (sometimes literally) because the bolt keeps coming loose causing the seat to tilt (usually backwards). Can you replace just the top part of the dropper with something that is more stable?

thought of loctite as well. Not sure how long that will last

Loctite 243 (blue). Just clean the tread on both sides before to make sure there is no oily residue. apply loctite, torque and leave 24h. Problem solved.

If all else fails loctite 271 (red) but you will need a blowtorch to heat up the bolt for it  to come lose again (not the ideal solution)

It's not the bolt coming loose that causes it to slip, it's the slipping that causes the bolt to come loose. Really poor design. Use carbon paste between the rotating plates and tighten well. Won't slip again.

Note for future use, I have a cheap manual impact driver works well for excessive loctite use, the shock fom the hammer often breaks the loctite's seal/grip enough for you to get it turning. I have had good success with this especially with bolts and screws in aluminium parts

That is the answer I was looking for. It is a really shite design that's why I want to put a decent clamp on there.

I owned one for a few years. Over-tightening the bolt or using loctite won't solve the problem. That said, the recommended torque values are too low.

Hi All .... to revive an old thread.

Does anyone have one of those bolt lying about ... local bike shops don't seem too keen to find one for me and my bolt head is close to being kaput
