Yip, just on my way home for some schoolin on my ebike with no helmet, short socks, saddle bag, an charger, stoppin now and then for a toke on the asthma pump, oh yeah!

Not even the UCI would give you a TUE for short socks, even they draw the line somewhere!

No, they would definitely give you a TUE for this due to being soft in the noggin.

I ONLY wear short socks so the sun doesn't draw a line on my amazing calves. We all sacrifice in our own way. And I'd trust the sun to draw a line a long way ahead of the Ukkie.

I think E bikes are awesome but in big SA events? What ever happened to these events been a challenge to complete. Next year I'll buy a Segway and enter the comrades...

Maybe the guys who rode e-bikes at Sani should get a virtual medal at the end instead of the real deal? Something you can store in your e-wallet and show mates that you tamed the umko valley. If you really want to show off, you can print and laminate...?

The real challenge these days is finding ways to cheat without getting busted,

No drugs

No blood changeouts

No asthma stuff

No hidden motors

No e machines

No segways

Whats next, they gonna ban bananas soon !

It all depends where you put the banana......

Might have helped to have informed everybody at the race briefing.

Does anybody listen at a race briefing?

Sidenote:

Just entered 947 and they have a clear option for you to indicate whether you will be riding an e-bike, presumably to separate them from the rest.

Obviously you still have the option to not select it and ride your E-bike anyway, but this is a move in the right direction which more organizers will probably replicate in future.

Maybe some race organiser will see a gap in the market and have a "Z-group" that starts 30 minutes after the last group each day, and who can get to enjoy an "adventure ride" - with NO prizes and no race times, just allowed to enjoy the nature.  Would be VERY interesting to see how many people would enter such a "Z-group" ???

This here.... thank you for saving me typing time.

Seperate them in what practical way other than them knowing how many 'luigat fietse' there are?

Yes I said it, unless someone has a clear physical reason to ride one, I'm not strong or fit enough is not a good reason IMHO, that's what I consider them as

I have seen a number of the following rules flouted at races in the recent past, so it seems that either the race organizers, or SA Cycling, are hypocritical of the UCI rules?

Cool, I am too unfit to do the IronMan, but seeing that fitness is no longer a requirement to do races, I will simply make the race "accessible" to myself like this:

I remember there was a thread on e-bikes a while ago but can't find it.

Just a few frowns too share. During the Sani2c race, we spotted a few e-bikes. What is the deal with them? Do they compete?

I really don't care if people ride these things. If you are old/disabled, by all means go ahead. If you buy your wife an e-bike so that she can keep up when you go out together, good. Brownie points.

If you want to ride your electric bike on the Sani, do the Trail. Or the Adventure. I do frown on young okes celebrating their mediocrity with scooters on a race though.

Ha ha ha ha  - good one.
